Date Added: By: Bryan Little Rating: 5/5 I have recently been introduced to Hex Poly by Golden Set and fell in love with it right away. I have used a similiar string from another Manufacturer but wanted something at a better value. I feel like I could drop a ball in from "30,000" feet with these strings. They really grip the ball and I can get extreme top spin. I use the 16 gauge with the Classic. The customer service at Golden Set is exceptional.

Date Added: By: John Balsevich, Saskatoon, SK Rating: 5/5 I recently strung my racquet with the golden set hex poly (white)18G (@50/48 lbs -- Dunlop 200 Tour). I have hit with this string for about 5h and found it to be a very decent mid-powered poly -- so far I have had nice control and spin on ground strokes and serves and the string has maintained its consistency. The string pockets the ball quite nicely and is quite comfortable as well.

Date Added: By: Juan Roberto Hirsch, Wellington, Florida Rating: 5/5 I have been using the Golden set strings for over a year with Excellent results. i have tried Golden Set Hex to compare it to BabolatRPM Blast or Luxilon Alu Spin and found it to be better on feel and spin for a 1/4 of the cost. Its a great string and in my opinion much better feel than the Babolat and Luxilon strings. Highly recommend this strings.

Date Added: By: mike santomauro Rating: 5/5 Being a stringer and a passionate player of the sport I have the advantage of personally trying out the strings before I choose to endorse them to my clients! I have Hex Poly in the mains and Syn Gut in the crosses on one racket, and Snake Bite/Syn Gut on my other....both are great combos. The Hex poly however is 18 gauge and have found it to be a powerful combo with the Syn gut 17....delivers great spin with extra power!! The Snake Bite 17/Syn Gut 16 combo delivers similar spin and bite but with more control!! (could not compare the same gauge as they no longer make the SB in 18) I have tried both combos with Velvet substituting the Syn Gut resulting in more feel of the ball coupled with elbow preservation!....but not as durable!

Date Added: By: Peter Storm - - - Storm's Stringing Rating: 5/5 All my big hitters love this string and so do I! I use it for the mains at 10% lower than spec and snake bite 17 on the crosses at spec. It locks the strings in and they never move! Super feel and great spin on the ball. I'm not a big hitter but I use allot of spin and this combination REALLY grabs the ball! I love it!!! Thanks!

Date Added: By: Changming Xia Rating: 5/5 Wonderful strings at great price! I didn't use textured strings before, and I could definitely feel the difference. Lots of free spin! It helps me keep the ball inside the baseline. One downside is the balls get worn out a lot faster (soon become fuzzy). That's how much the strings are "pulling" the balls. Very durable as well. I have trouble finding comparably durable syn gut for crosses. Every time it was the crosses that break first. Strongly recommended.

Date Added: By: Feng Jing Sun Rating: 5/5 I have to say that this is the only poly which I can use. I did try many poly brand, gauge, setup, full poly, hybrid. Nothing works and full poly hurt my elbow twice. But still I want more power and spin. So I keep trying untill I found this one. Now my set up: main 18 or 17 gauge syn. gut 58lb; cross hex 18 52 lb; Wilson blx pro staff 95. Yes! Main string broke very often, 3 h for me. I have stringing machine, so that's fine. The string feel live, powerful and control. I think 18 gauge help it to bite the ball better. I don't know if Hex shape helped since i never tried round shape 18 poly. I am happy about current setup so far. If you were, same as me, failed at other poly strings, I recommend you using HEX 18 gauge poly string, try hybrid first. Thanks for reading.

Date Added: By: Albert Brown Rating: 5/5 I just wanted to compliment goldenset on their excellent customer service and great product. I am a 4.0 USTA rec. player, and have used goldenset strings for about 3-4 yrs. I play 4-5 times a week, and have been amazed at how long the strings hold up and how well they maintain their tension. I like to use the hex-poly on the mains and optima on the crosses. This gives me a good balance of spin, power and longevity. I can then use the 17 gage strings at 55 lbs. I have tried other strings but can't beat the value or performance.

Date Added: By: Harold Bessette Rating: 5/5 I've been using the Hex Poly as a main string for over a year now. Tons of spin, power, and control! It's also a softer string so stringing is easier, and no problems with tennis elbow. For the price, this string cannot be beat!

Date Added: By: Scott Baldinelli Rating: 5/5 I am a 5.0 player who has previously strung my Babolat Pure Drive with Top Spin Cyberflash 17G at 57 pounds. When they changed the formula, I started breaking strings often and searched for a replacement that was more durable but was soft on the arm and has similar feel. I have an extreme western grip, and don't need assistance with access to spin. I tried the big banger, it was too hard on my shoulder, the Kirschbaum Helix 17G was not durable, the PolyStar Energy was short on feel and difficult to control. THe snake bite and the dunlop black widow provided too much access to spin. My local pro recomended the Hex Poly 17G. Since I didn't know much about Golden Set, I was not optimistic. I tried the string and I am in love. It durable, provides good access to both spin and power, and has tremendous feel for touch shots. I have recently recomended this string to several people I play with whose rackets I string.

Date Added: By: Ed Andrulis Rating: 5/5 I have been using 18 guage hex poly in my personal racquets for a year now and find the thinner guage to provide great playablity for a polyester string. At lower tensions the string plays remarkably nice and still offers amazing durablity.

Date Added: By: Tony Mendoza Rating: 5/5 In a day where polyester strings are increasing popular this is a gem. You can be hard pressed to find a hexagonal string for a better value. This string offers exceptional spin due to the shape and thinner gauge. Comfort and tension maintenance are also a nice bonus.

Date Added: By: Bart Panarese Rating: 5/5 I'm a junior tennis player and my sister is a D-1 college tennis player and we both use Hex Poly. It is durable, easy on our arms and shoulders, and a great all-around string. It allows us to hit the ball with a lot of spin and power, yet we can still stay very consistent throughout each point. Date Added: By: Sumeet Vasudeva Rating: 4/5 Hex Poly 17 tension 55lbs It is great string with great spin and power.Only issue that it is hard on arm and tennis elbow.I have another set string called Poly 17 gauge which I will try with lower tension around 48lbs and see what are the effects on my arm and tennis elbow. Do not take me wrong this string is very good perhaps lower tension will do the trick and I will not require to switch another string.

Date Added: By: DOUG TRAUT Rating: 5/5 I ordered and received a bulk reel of Golden Set Hex Poly 18 about 6 months ago and have strung a number of rackets with it. The Hex Poly is a stiffer string than solid core string such as Gosen OG Sheep Micro making it slightly harder to string but not terribly difficult. The Hex Poly plays very well with noticeably more bite than smooth strings. The durability was very good. I tend to believe that after about 4-6 weeks in a racket, any string has lost a significant amount of “zip” and should be restrung. The life, before breaking, for the 18 gauge Hex Poly is about this time period so I am comfortable using and recommending it. One string client was exceptionally pleased as the Hex Poly does not move around like other strings so he doesn’t have to realign or straighten the strings between points. Although the string notches slightly over its' lifetime, it does not fray. I’m normally stringing the rackets in the 58 – 63 lb tension range. I am pleased on all aspects of the Hex Poly string and am going to try the Snake Bite string as well to see the advantages or disadvantages of increased bite. Although polyester strings such as Hex Poly are reported to have a negative impact on the elbow and shoulders of players because of its' stiffness, I have yet to notice any difference in my use nor have any client report a difference compared to softer nylon strings.

Date Added: By: DOMINIK NOWAK Rating: 5/5 The Golden Set Hex Poly 17 string is a fantastic string that bites the ball exceptionally well. Soft and easy on the arm but not mushy, power and spin came easily off of the stringbed. The overall experience was comparable to hitting with top polyester strings like Cyberflash and Alu. Ease-of-stringing was regular for a polyester. A must-try from the Golden Set collection of strings.

Date Added: By: Jason Chang Rating: 5/5 I was always skeptical of the claim about the spin increase with shaped strings. I thought it had to do with the swing and how the ball was contacted. Hex Poly easily proves that I was wrong. I have two racquets, one strung with a highly regarded poly (in regular shape) from another bland and one with Hex. During my side by side comparison hitting, the Hex Poly brings out more spins effortlessly and my kicks serve also has more action and kicks higher. I really enjoy hitting with this string. Please be advised that the Hex Poly is a bit stiff so string it at a lower tension than the normal setup.

Date Added: By: Steve Marchal Rating: 4/5 As a user of another know Hex poly, I felt Golden Set Hex was softer and thicker at the 17g than what i was used to. I will string this in a couple more frames and increasing the tension to see if that helps.

Date Added: By: David Lewis Rating: 4/5 • Hex Poly: Gauge/Length/Color - Hex Poly 18 Set (40ft/12.2m) • Snake-Bite: Gauge/Length/Color - Snake-Bite 17 Set (40ft/12.2m) Black I prefer the hex poly to the snake-bite because of the thinner gauge. both strings lasted for about 5 hits and felt good the entire time. the durability is good. previously, i've used 17 gauge kevlar. it lasts a bit longer, but it's feel and playability decreases considerably so you're not able to hit as well. it becomes more a question of do i want to restring for performance, or keep the strings for longevity. the hex poly and snake-bite both last long enough and feel good. i'm switching to the hex poly and ordering a reel. the bottom line, they're both nice strings.

Date Added: By: Darren Hoeg Rating: 5/5 Review of Hex Poly 16L I have been using this string for about a year now after using Babolat Pro Hurricane, RPM Blast, and Luxlion Big Banger Rough. Honestly, I feel this string is superior to any of those. The string has better feel than Hurricane of Luxilon, and a more traditional response than RPM Blast, and i think it has more "bite" than any of them. I break strings often, and hex Poly is at least as durable as these other strings, and seems to hold it's tension and playability longer. Highyl recommended. there is not reason to pay 5x more buying these name brands when Golden Set offers Hex Poly.

Date Added: By: Dawn Takara Rating: 5/5 My daughters have been using the Hex Poly\'s for over a year now. We were looking to replace their former strings (Luxilon ALU) as it was getting quite expensive. I looked online and came across this site and saw how reasonably priced the strings were...gave Jeff a call and he said the Hex Poly strings were similar to the Luxilons...so we gave it a try. The girls LOVED the strings. We have been using the Hex Poly\'s on the mains and the Optimum strings on the crosses. They love the feel of the combination. The strings hold its tension well and last a very long time. My older daughter who played college tennis (using regular synthetic gut) would break strings after 3-5 days...this combination lasts her on average...3 weeks or longer. We have not ordered strings for over a year because they last so long. The feel is great, the combination is great, the service is great! I would HIGHLY recommend these strings to anyone...so would my girls!!

Date Added: By: Mike Chow Rating: 4/5 I've been a fan of this string for a while now. I'm a 5.0 with a semi western forehand and 2handed backhand and I hit heavy top off both sides. What I love about this string is that it grabs the ball as well as black code yet has the tension retention of a multi. It's the only poly string I can leave in there until it breaks, everything else I cut out after 20 hours. Even with my strokes it takes me several hours of hard hitting to break them (20+ hours). It ain't the most comfortable poly but it doesn't hurt my arm and I'm looking for performance mainly. Give it a try. I like the 17 gauge.

I string for my doubles partner and he uses a Red Poly string that cost twice as much and lasts half as long as my Poly Hex. I used to have to straighten my strings after every point, now rarely. Golden Set prices are great, and they allowed me to try a variety of strings (sample pack) until I found my best combo. Hex Poly and Torque. Date Added: By: uma prasad Rating: 3/5 Hex poly at 18 gage. It plays like a hybrid of babolate pro hurigane (main)/signum pro hextreem cross with a 10% less power. However, durability and tention maintenance is better but the same spin as the hybride compared above. It does have alot less spin than snake bite. Nothing compares to snake bite in regards to spin. Stringing: hex poly 18 gage/ 55 main and golden string synthetic on cross. 4 hours and still good. This combo is not stiff or soft. Medium spin capabilities when compared to snake bite. Recommended: Recommended for people who need long life strings(durability, tention), play at 60% control and 40% power. People who like spin but not excessive spin. My ratings: 3.5/5. Why: -1 point: Little or power -0.5 point: stiffness (compared to other) +0.5 point: Spin +1 point: for control and durability. +1 point: price Service rating: 5/5, Reliable source for purchasing and immediate shipping. Friendly too. My self: 20 years experience in tennis and stringing rackets.

My experience has been their sale prices are for old string and I was breaking Prince Topspin every month (sometimes every 2 plays, or 4 sets of tennis). I'm a 4.0 player with plenty of topsin but never experienced so many breaks. I purchased 2 reels from Golden set and Torque 16 has been a favorite of mine and my kids. I have had the longest time for strings with Hex Poly, I love the topspin we get and durability is the best. With 2 teenagers and myself hitting plenty of topspin, I don't like spending my time re-stringing 6 raquests (we all have a backup). Date Added: By: Justyn Thomas Rating: 5/5 The Hex Poly string was a great string and I would give it a rating of 5/5. I felt like I was able to get the added feel and spin from the string yet it was also comfortable and does not hurt my arm like some other strings. I actually gave my coach one racquet strung with Pro Hurricane Tour and one with this on a blind test and he liked this one better also. This string also made a great hybrid with Torque or Synthetic Gut. The price was also great too! Very glad that I switched.

Date Added: By: Kevin Mawn Rating: 4/5 I string racquets for the tennis players in my neighborhood. The feedback on the hex poly strings has been very positive. The most popular request is to use the hex poly on the mains with the golden set torque on the cross strings. The bite on the ball is evident and you get a great pop off the serve. You can't beat the price when comparing this string to the babolat pro-huricane tour. The savings are passed on to my clients. Golden set strings will not disappoint!

Date Added: By: John Nguyen Rating: 5/5 We tried Golden Set Hex to compare it to Babolat Hurricane Tour or Luxilon Alu Spin and found it to be very similar for a 1/4 of the cost. Its a good string for the price you pay and we would purchase it again for our high school tennis team.

Date Added: By: John Nguyen Rating: 5/5 The Golden Set Hex Poly is surprisingly a good value for what you get. With similarities of that of Luxilon Spin, it matches up pretty well for a 1/4 of the cost. Not bad for a poly set of strings. I would recommend it and buy it again. Thanks...

Date Added: By: John Hein Women's Tennis Coach, Whitman Co Rating: 5/5 We started using the Hex Poly for mains with the 16G Syn Gut in the cross and the durability and cost are great. My players have been happy with the playability and for such durable string really like that its not too stiff like a nylon.

Date Added: By: Albert Brown Rating: 4/5 I have been using hex poly for the past 2 yrs. This year I tried hex poly in the 18 gage and found it to be very good in terms of control and power. The last set that I used however, only lasted 3 weeks. I am not sure if it was a problem with the stringer or with the strings. I have another set of 18 gage that I have been using for 3-4 week and they seem to be holding up much better. Overall I am very happy with your products and will continue to purchase from you.

Date Added: By: Sze Ern Kuo Rating: 5/5 I have been using Hex Poly 1.18 for six months. I had good results using it in hybrids, but it really shined in a full poly set up at low tensions. Strung at 30lbs, it pockets the ball well, allowing me to hit nasty top spins, serves and volleys. It is comfortable to my arm and it retains tension well.

Date Added: By: Jerzy Zakrzewski Rating: 4/5 I used to play with Gamma TNT2 and Wilson NXT – both 16 and 17 using Head LM Prestige. After switching to Head Extreme Pro with 16/18 string pattern these strings were simply moving too much. Golden Set Torque 17 gives me enough spin to keep the ball inside the lines and decent pop as well. These are not the softest strings you can find, but I like a solid feel of the ball leaving my racquet. If you have however any elbow problems this might not be the best choice. I play 2-3 times a week using 2 identical racquets all year around restring them 3 times a year, so durability is very good. Mind it , that while pushing 50s I’m not exaggerating with the topspin or powerany more. Jerzy, Oakville, Head Extreme Pro at 52/53 lbs, NTRP rating 4.5

Date Added: By: Huu Pham Rating: 5/5 My son was using a hex string from a well-known brand previously until he tried the Hex Poly string. He found the Hex Poly string to be superior in playability, power, topspin, and durability. Coincidentally, his ranking went from 20's to 4 within 3 months since he started using Hexpoly strings. I can't attribute his achievement on the strings alone but the string was the only variable.

Date Added: By: William Ford Rating: 5/5 These strings are UNBELIEVABLE. I play with a Weed EXT135 racket (135 square inch head) and I have YET to break a string. My friend and doubles partner breaks strings about once a week, and he's been using the Hex Poly from the spool I bought. Well, he still hasn't broken one of these, but his racket frame broke (not because of the strings). So the strings are very tough and they impart plenty of spin on the ball. I couldn't believe how good they were for the price I paid. I highly recommend these strings (I'm a 4.5 level player).

Date Added: By: Bo Hurley Rating: 5/5 You have great products and totally professional service. We have used the 17 and 18 gauge round copolyester, and the 17 gauge hex poly, and have been delighted with the performance and price of these strings. We recommend them to our friends and team mates, but we are reluctant to let opponents know about the advantage these strings provide. Most players are still using 16 gauge nylon, and they dont know that your 18 gauge copolyester will give at least as much durability as 16 gauge nylon, while providing immensely superior performance. With your 18 gauge co-poly, I can hit groundies hooding the ball (i.e., like topspin with a ping pong paddle), with the slightly downward facing string bed literally yanking the ball upward due to the significantly greater bite from the smaller string diameter. This produces a heavy, driven topspin shot, while avoiding about 80% of the stress on my legs. I can swing across my body rather than just inside out, making it more difficult for my opponent to read my shot, and making it easier to generate racquet head speed. Also, the trajectory of this shot is superior to the shot coming from an upward-moving vertical racquet face because it stays lower and has more forward speed, but at the same time it exhibits an unbelieveable dive rate, generating the ability to hit short angled winners not possible with string of higher diameter. Also, a hacking slice from the 18 copoly on a clay court often bounces only about 12 inches high, making it very difficult to return. Once I tried your copolyester, I could not help but recall an article I read about the first time Andre Agassi tried a copolyester string. His first statement was "Is this stuff legal?" When told it was, his second statement was "Well, if it is not outlawed, it is going to change the game of tennis". Agassi immediately put the string on his racquets and went out and won that tournament. Agassi was correct...copolyester string has changed the game of tennis.

Date Added: By: Bill Gross Rating: 5/5 Hex 17 in the mains @ 57 lb and Torque 16 in the crosses @ 59 lb plays identical to Gamma Zo Pro Spin and has the same life. It is significantly more cost effective. My son, a big banger, goes through a set in 2-3 weeks. Initially, he didn't want to try anything else, but after trying it, he agreed, it was as good.

I've been very happy with their products and have strongly recommended them to others. The strings are great and play just as well as the other "brand names" I used to use. I'm a frequent string breaker, so for a quality string at a much lower price - you can't beat that! Excellent and knowledgeable customer service as well.

After finishing my racquet with NXT crosses, I definitely felt the ball bite. I even got compliments from an opponent that I can\'t beat that my ball was kicking more. Since then, I\'ve been hooked. And along with the price, Hex Poly is a great example of bang for your buck.

It also provides great tension which gives me the certainty that the string will keep its tension throughout the entire practice or match. With Golden Set’s string I get the performance/durability at a fraction of the cost. The Hex Poly and the Poly are very similar strings in terms of how they feel when hitting flat. The difference comes when I start applying spin. The Hex shape seems to bite the ball a noticeable amount more. Date Added: By: matt miller Rating: 5/5 I'm a pretty high level junior and I have been using these strings (hex poly) for about 2 years. The strings grip the ball so well and last for a decently long time depending on how many hours a week you play. It almost feels like fingers are grabbing the ball when you hit top spin or slices its amazing. Highly recommend these strings to any level of player. Especially if you string the racquet with full hex poly no hybrid. |
