Date Added: By: Danny Mullins, Yakima Rating: 4/5 Been stringing my rackets with Snake-Bite I'm guessing 4 years now as a hybrid. Using several different types of softer synthetic gut in the mains, fell in love with Head FXP power 16g but hated how long the strings lasted.About 4 to 6 hrs as an average. When ordering more Snake-Bite the Rep said try the Velvet and did and I was Impressed . Strung One racket w/ FXP & one w/ Velvet to tell the difference ,The Velvet is a little firmer at first but after 1 hrs It had a nice feel. In 6 sets The FXP broke and after 8 sets the Velvet is showing some wear but still doing very well. I don't think that Golden gives it Enough Credit on its durability . Couldn't be Happier .Danny

Date Added: By: Tung Le, Mountain House, California Rating: 4/5 One of the better multifilament strings out there on the market. I use this string on the mains and Snake Bite on the crosses. It gave me the best ball pocketing and enough power with this hybrid. If you want a low-price/good mutilfilament string, try Velvet.

Date Added: By: Raymond Del Rosario Rating: 5/5 I've been using Velvet for over a year, and it has become my go-to multi. I've used Live Wire, NXT, Addiction, NRG2, and other quality multis, and Velvet by far exceeds these as a whole in all areas of value, feel, durability, and tension maintenance. Oddly, it doesn't noticeably complement all strings either as a main or a cross in a hybrid setup, but does enhance feel with good spin when in a hybrid as a Main with RPM Blast crosses (string RPM 3 lbs. lower). Overall, it is best on its own in a full-bed setup. If you're a stringer, stringing with this string is very easy. It doesn't kink or bruise as easily as Gamma Pro or Live Wire. For the money, it's the best value for a multi out there.

Date Added: By: David Zalewski Rating: 4/5 I have been stringing my racquet with snake bite in the mains and using Velvet in the crosses. I feel that this combination gives me good spin, as I hit with a lot of top spin but I like the feel of the velvet in the crosses for touch. Velvet is rated poorly for durability and this is a true, especially with the snake bite, but since I string my own racquets, I don't care.

Date Added: By: Wes Obana Rating: 5/5 I been using the Velvet string for racquetball racquets and its plays very well. I always use it on my own racquets first to test the string and am now using it on customer racquets with no complaints. Very good string at a great price.

Date Added: By: John A. Ramsey II Rating: 5/5 March 20, 2012 I have been using Snakebite for a few years now, and my customer base loves this string. I string nearly every racquet from two clubs here in SW Florida and 95% of all string jobs include either Snakebite or a Snakebite/Velvet Hybrid. The Velvet string is nearly identical to NXT. Additionally, I use the Golden Set Secure grips and the Elan grips as replacement grips. My members love the fact that the price is the lowest for such good quality. Most of my members had not replaced their grips in 20 years. In fact, the first month I used over 30 grips. I found that the Secure Grip was a little thicker than the Elan Grip, and for those women whose grip was too large, I replaced their grip using an Elan Grip to reduce the grip size. The product quality and price has made me a permanent customer of Golden Set Tennis. Thank you again. John John A. Ramsey II Kelly Greens Director of Tennis USPTA Professional

Date Added: By: Julio Cau Rating: 5/5 Impressive quality at a low price. After buying my stringer, I tried many strings from different brands and no other brand came close to the quality and price offered by Golden Set. I appreciate the feel and control I get with Velvet 17 in my racquet. I am a 4.0 player that loves move up to the net, and this string is perfect for my style. I got some samples from a friend and decided to buy a reel right after trying Velvet for the first time. If you are looking for good quality, feel, control and power, Golden Set has the answer for your racquet.

Date Added: By: Gavin Landon Rating: 5/5 Very soft string and durable for sure! String tension is normal with noticeable string movement after about 10 hours of play. Feel was good, and spin generation average. Power was definitely there even at higher tensions. Used in full bed, probably would fair well in a hybrid too. Would definitely use again. Good string for a good price!

Date Added: By: Jim Kellogg Rating: 5/5 I want to commend you on a great product. I was offered a sample pack which to my surprise was a wonderful value. In using the sample pack I discovered the 18 gauge Snakebite and 18 gauge Velvet. This is a great combination for my racket and style of play. I am preparing for another season of USTA team tennis (3.5 Senior & Regular)and was looking for a string combination that would be easy on my arm and still give me power that I need to be a consistent winner. Make my vote the Snakebite and Velvet combination. A great value and worth twice the price. Thank You for a great product and wonderful value. I am looking to buy a reel of both and only decision is about the color.

Date Added: By: Dean Olah Rating: 5/5 I've been using Golden Set strings for over a year now and find them comparable to any high quality string on the market. My favorite string is the Maximal 17 gauge. The touch and control is outstanding with power when needed (depending on how I string it). The only downside is that the string usually only lasts me about 3 weeks before I break it. Sometimes I use the velvet 17 gauge when I need more durability. It has a very similar feel with just a bit more power. Fortunately due to the very reasonable costs of the Golden Set Strings and for the fact I string my own racquets, I can afford to restring frequently and always be on the top of my game. Keep up the good work Golden String!

Date Added: By: Will Reynolds Rating: 5/5 Velvet-These strings are probably my favorite strings I have used on my racquetball racquet. I string my own racquets so I purchased a sample set from Golden Set. These strings played awesome and the durability was better for me then Golden Set's "racquetball string" (Anabolic). In fact I cannot say how long these strings would have lasted because my frame broke before the strings. I am going to order a reel of this string and will string all my racquets with it. I have found the one!

Date Added: By: Dane McNeill Rating: 5/5 A couple of things about this string as I've played through 10-15 sets of it now . . . First, this is an excellent playing and feeling string that has far greater durability than you would ever expect from a string that plays this well. Second, at the price, about half or less of the price of competitive name brand strings, you can not miss with this string. I just started stringing again after many year of paying for the service and I love stringing and playing with this string . . . (I'm a 4.5-5.0 level player) Outstanding!!!

Date Added: By: Dean Olah Rating: 5/5 I have been using name brand tennis strings as long as I can remember and for the past 6 years I have been stringing my own racquets. I have found that the Golden Set Velvet is as strong, yet easy on the arm and playable as any string on the market. The quality is terrific and the price extremely competitive. This is the string I use personally and recommend to all my customers.

Date Added: By: Mikolaj Borak Rating: 5/5 This string has a great feel. It doesn't hurt your arm and it's very responsive. The issue is, it breaks withing 6-8 hours of hard playing. However, in my opinion, it's just like those other $40 string you see from companies but at an insanely low price. Personally, it's worth buying a reel cause it works. Lots of spin and plenty of comfort. I'm just hooked on it.

Date Added: By: Doug McCorkle Rating: 5/5 I'm a 4.0 "touch" player, and sampled a lot of strings to find the most comfortable string with good control - Velvet 16 was it. I play three times a week, and need to restring about every six weeks, but with such a reasonable price (and I string myself), it is more than worth it. I just got my second roll!

Date Added: By: Ken Kisty Rating: 5/5 I still play with a Wilson Jack Kramer wooden racquet at times and stringing it with Golden Set Velvet 16 really improved performance. It provides me with a soft feel, a seemingly larger sweetspot, and ball placement is such that it seems I just \"think\" of where I want the shot to go, and it gets there! I highly recommend Velvet. |
