Date Added: By: Derry Thomas, Edmonton, Alberta Rating: 4/5 I have been using snake bite for almost 1 year. The combination of power and spin is better than any string I have ever used. I have been playing tennis for 30+ years and have used a wide variety of strings from natural gut, alu power to the cheapest nylon from the 1970`s. My only piece of advice is to find the tension that is right for you. I have found that it plays best when strung about 10 pounds less than a traditional synthetic. Finally, when this string washes out after a lot of play, you might as well cut it out as it will no longer grab the ball and perform as expected. No worries, as this will take a while.

Date Added: By: Robert Murray, Head Pro, Center Court of Mount Olive, NJ Rating: 5/5 The order was exactly as I wanted. I'm thoroughly impressed with your strings, particularly Snake Bite. As a player and a teaching professional, it is the only string I use and I highly recommend it to any player who wants to get more spin and pop on their ball. As long as you guys keep making this string, I will keep using it.

Date Added: By: Georgy Kao- Los Angeles, CA Rating: 5/5 Snake Bites deliver on performance and price. I’ve tried Babolat, Luxilon and other over priced “high label’ brands and they all under deliver. Finally a co-poly that says what it does and does what it says. Snake bites are the best textured co-polys for your hard earned money. I will ONLY play with Snake Bites. Thank You Golden Set, keep making quality products!

This string feels like a tool that allows me to do this. I am stuck on this string and will be useing it for a long time to come.

Date Added: By: Ron Warf Rating: 5/5 As a teaching professional i ordered eight (8) sets of Snake Bite to see how it would compare with the Big Banger Savage a lot of my kids were using. With the Savage strings were breaking every three days. Now with Snake Bite the durability is twice that and more, and with increased spin over the Savage! I will only use Snake Bite and recommend it to all my players now.

Date Added: By: Wayne Lilley Rating: 5/5 After testing a range of co-polys, I've come to the conclusion that Snakebite plays as well as the high-priced competition and is also at least as durable as Luxilon's Alu and Babolat's RPM. I've been gradually switching stringing customers over with good results as well. A caution, though: I tried an entire bed of Snakebite 16g. and almost tore my arm off. Tried Snakebite 17g on the mains and NXT on the crosses with good results. Switched to Velvet on the crosses which was at least as good and considerably more economical. I've been recommending that hybrid combo and haven't had a single complaint. It would be good if Velvet was a little more durable, but at the price, I can afford to restring more frequently. Currently experimenting with Powercord for mains and Velvet in crosses. A little softer on the almost 70-yr old arm, but not not as much bite.Except for the attenuator dampeners, which does last, Golden Set's other products are all excellent and priced well. Service in Canada is excellent.

Date Added: By: jeremy bell Rating: 4/5 Just to let everyone know that I just started using Snake Bite 16g for about 2 months now and have really liked the overall feel and spin and durability that I get from this string. Also I string racquets and have done about a dozen customers and the response has been great except one person. With that one person I ended up doing his second racquet with Snake bite(mains)16g and synthetic gut 16 and he really liked it. Either way I am sold and very affordable. Thank you very much from Jeremy Bell from Vernon,B.C.

I like the softness of the snake/ classic and still have adequate spin but with added power. I will be purchasing more strings after I'm all out. Thanks Golden Set and keep up the great work!

Date Added: By: Jim Kocsis Rating: 5/5 Over the past year more than 50% of my regular clients have switched their string of choice to either straight snake bite or a hybrid blend with this string. People are saying they are impressed with the improved bite on the ball, durability and tension control. I anticipate more of my regular clients switching over to snake bite in the coming year. I highly recommend this product.

Date Added: By: George Darden Rating: 5/5 The snake bite is an incredible and durable string at a great price. I have been using it for about a year now. I could never hit with topspin until I started using this great string. It will last forever and using it with a synthetic, it is very easy on the arm. I would highly recommend this string. I am a 4.0 player and I game has improved from using this fantastic string.

Date Added: By: Tom H. Rating: 5/5 I recently tried Snake-Bite 17G mains in a hybrid setup with 17G multifilament crosses. I have tried many of the name brand polys in the past but never cared for the playability since I prefer a softer gut-like string bed feel. Snake-Bite was a complete surprise as it added serious spin to my ground strokes while keeping a decent feel to the racket. I am able to take a full cut when serving and the ball consistently lands in the back of the box with ample top spin. I am extremely happy with this string and plan on using it exclusively. It has elevated my game considerably. Thanks Golden Set! (USTA upper level 3.5)

Date Added: By: Peter Storm - - - Storm's Stringing Rating: 5/5 All my big hitters love this string and so do I! I use it for the crosses at spec and hex 17 on the mains at 10% lower than spec. It locks the strings in and they never move! Super feel and great spin on the ball. I'm not a big hitter but I use allot of spin and this combination REALLY grabs the ball! I love it!!! Thanks!

Date Added: By: Jordan Cruz Rating: 5/5 My Review of Snake Bite 16 gauge: I currently use Golden Set Snake Bite 16G in my BLX Blade 98" strung at 55lbs. I am also currently the captain of my D3 college tennis, ranked inside the Top 30 in the country. I really love the power and spin that this string gives. I find that, with my serve and volley style, I can hit big first serves as well as really high-bouncing kick serves upon coming in. This string also provides a really nice surface to push volleys deep as well as hit touch shots. On the ground strokes, I love to power through the ball and this string definitely allows for that. I have also found that this string is ridiculously durable. I usually have to cut it out of my racquet before matches because it will last for so long. You also CAN'T BEAT THESE PRICES! Definitely best string for you hard earned bucks.

Date Added: By: Stefan Chu, Orlando, FL Rating: 5/5 I've been purchasing from Golden Set for the past year and I can say that the Snake Bite 17g is one of the best strings I've ever used. Its surprisingly soft, yet it offers such a good bite without compromising durability. Coming from the Luxilon Big Banger 16/17g, which I felt that it didn't offer enough feel, you get all of that with the Snake Bite. Also, it's more affordable, kudos to Golden Set for creating such a good string.

Date Added: By: Alan Gerber - Plano, Texas Rating: 5/5 I was turned on to Snake Bite a couple years ago and have never looked back. I've had the opportunity to try other strings on a few occasions which only helps reinforce my preference for this string. The spin is phenomenal and it holds its tension extremely well which is rare for a poly. Combine the performance of this string with it's price and there is nothing out there that can beat it.

Date Added: By: Todd Van Duyn NDS (Next Day Stringers)Avon Indiana Rating: 5/5 I recently purchased Snake Bite and Hex Poly 16g strings. I have strung rackets with both and they have received rave reviews in both cases. My snake bite player enjoyed an increase in spin and pop and texted me to tell me so after his match. Both were easy to work with and I received them very quickly without a delivery charge. My Golden Set technician Jeff was very knowledgeable about the products and I will soon be buying 660 foot reels on all my purchases from Golden Set. Because of the savings I will be able offer my stringing customers a better product for 30 percent less than other brands. Looking forward to the new Snake Bite banners for my local tournaments when they become available for sale—very cool snake bite emblem.

Date Added: By: Freddie Asis, Stockton, CA Rating: 5/5 I'm a 4.0 USTA tournament player and previously used the following strings: luxilon big banger original, tourna big hitter blue, tourna big hitter rough, and forten thin blend (kevlar/syn gut). The tourna strings' characteristics are similar (i.e., tension retention, power, durability, doesn't move that much), if not the same compared to luxilon BBO but the price. Recently, i tried the forten thin blend and strung it at 46/52 on 2 of my dunlop aerogel 4D 100, and i'm aware of kevlar characteristics (i.e., very low power, durable, control oriented) but the main strings moved in all directions on a newly strung racquet. Came across Golden Set while researching for a replacement and ordered the poly sampler. Got my order, cut the forten blend and strung one of my Dunlop 4D 100 using the snake bite 17 (mains @ 52 lbs) and silent partner syn gut 16 (cross @ 54 lbs). Tested the tension of the newly strung racquet bed at 53 lbs using a gamma string tension tester. Went to hit with a tennis buddy for couple of hours; i like the feel and sound of the ball being hit by the snake bite. once at home, i checked the string bed and i was amazed to see that the string tension has not significantly changed approximately 52-53 lbs. Re-checked the string tension after 24 hrs and still the string tension has not changed. Went and play a couple of sets the following day, re-checked the string tension and still showing no significant tension loss. The strings look worn out especially the crosses but the string feels fresh to me although, certain of the mains move a little bit but still way better than luxilon BBO or tourna BHB/BHBR in my opinion. Additionally, snake-bite has better spin production compared to luxilon and/or tourna. Freddie Asis Stockton, CA

Date Added: By: Greg Matusiak Rating: 5/5 My son is 15 and he plays competitive tennis. He just started to use Snake-Bite 17 and he loves it!!!. Good spin generation, no loss of power, holds tension very well. Texture wears down a bit after playing for several hours but that is true of all textured strings. As good as expensive well known brands, in our joint opinion. Highly recommended for value and quality. Service is world class too.

Date Added: By: Harold Johnson Rating: 5/5 I have used several of the polyester strings, my favorite is Snakebite 17 followed by hex poly 18 gauge. I believe these strings are comparable to, or better than other polyester strings from other companies that I have used, but are a much better value. I like to experiment with string tensions and combinations, and the Golden Set strings offer a diverse variety at an affordable price. I have been waiting for them to offer a triangular profile polyester string, which should at least theoretically provide even more spin than the snakebite.

Date Added: By: Gene Park Rating: 5/5 I began experimenting with strings from Golden Set 2 years ago and am now sold. Prior to Golden Set, I was using Babolat's RPM Blast, but after trying a set of Golden Set's Snake Bite, I never went back. I've tried several types; hex poly, syn gut, snakebite and optimum and have found a great combo using Snake Bite 17 for the mains and Optimum 17 in the crosses. With a bit of tension testing, this combo provides just the right amount of feel, spin, control and power. I play on several teams and many people I've introduced to Golden Set are impressed and are beginning to make the transition. It's simply an amazing deal; great strings for an incredible price allowing players to always have a fresh set of strings to play with.

Date Added: By: John A. Ramsey II Rating: 5/5 March 20, 2012 I have been using Snakebite for a few years now, and my customer base loves this string. I string nearly every racquet from two clubs here in SW Florida and 95% of all string jobs include either Snakebite or a Snakebite/Velvet Hybrid. The Velvet string is nearly identical to NXT. Additionally, I use the Golden Set Secure grips and the Elan grips as replacement grips. My members love the fact that the price is the lowest for such good quality. Most of my members had not replaced their grips in 20 years. In fact, the first month I used over 30 grips. I found that the Secure Grip was a little thicker than the Elan Grip, and for those women whose grip was too large, I replaced their grip using an Elan Grip to reduce the grip size. The product quality and price has made me a permanent customer of Golden Set Tennis. Thank you again. John John A. Ramsey II Kelly Greens Director of Tennis USPTA Professional

Now, I play with snake-bite on the mains at 60lbs and Velvet on the crosses at 55lbs. and I am very pleased with the results. Power, comfort, and durabilty are all there. These strings are certainly comparable to Luxillon, Babolat, Technifibre, etc. without the heavy price tag. I would recommend these strings to any one wanting to improve their game. Sincerely D. Date Added: By: Peter Storm - - - Storm's Stringing Rating: 5/5 I string at least 20 racquets a week and Snake Bite has become my best seller! All my big hitters prefer it due to it\'s great spin and it\'s endurance. I had been using Gamma twist, which is simmilar but more expensive, and just now switched to Snake Bite. The only differences I have seen is that I\'m getting more top spin on the ball and my strings aren\'t moving. Oh, one other major difference I\'ve noticed is MORE MONEY IN MY POCKET!!!!Thanks for the great product . . . not to mention the quick service! Storm\'s Stringing__ Jacksonville,FL

Date Added: By: Alex Markov Rating: 5/5 Unfortunately, I have not had the opportunity to try out any of the expensive big brand name strings like Luxillon or Babolat. However, I have tried a few low to mid-end polys and none of them come even close to comparison to the Snake Bites and Hex Polys. First, it's a much softer poly than I anticipated(which was a pleasant surprise). Easy to string and tension maintance is above average so far. Due to their suprising softmess, I strung a full bed of poly on my Babolat Aero Storm @ 60/62. Before you judge me, I know what most people say about polys: lower the tension approx 10%. However, I prefer a firmer string bed w/more emphasis on control than power and this suits me. I've been playing with this setup for a couple of weeks now with no arm problems. Just like the name of the string, the first thing you will notice especially if you're a heavy topspin hitter is the amount of bite on the ball. I was astounded by the dip in my forehands. In my opinion, where this string truly shines are the slice backhands. With the right technique/stroke, the ball literally skids off the courts at a very very low trajectory. I play regularly with a solid 4.0 player and he himself said he was having trouble getting to my slice backhands. As far as durability goes, I play 2-3x per/wk so it's difficult to accurately review it's durability. However, as mentioned above, tension maintance has been above average so far. I string my own rackets so I'm not too concerned w/tension loss or durability. But for the price and exceptional playability, I think a serious player would be foolish not to try at least a set. I am willing to bet, 8/10 people who try these string will be converts the first time they hits the courts. Good luck and go buy yourself a reel!

Date Added: By: Woody Deryckx Rating: 5/5 *When I started stringing, I looked around for a reliable source of strings - one that offered a good variety, unsurpassed quality, reliable and prompt service and economical pricing. To my delight, I found all these in Golden Set!!! * *Everyone I string for has been very happy with the Golden Set strings we\'ve selected to fit their racquets and style of play. We\'re especially happy combining Snake Bite 17 mains with Classic 16 cross strings. We often tension the cross string a few pounds tighter to accentuate the contact between ball and those wonderful edges on the Snake Bite mains. The \'spin docs\' among us love this combination which provides terrific spin and control with amazing durability.* *Some of our friends wanting a softer feel to their string bed keep coming back for Velvet or Maximal or even the Optimal. I love seeing my friends out on the court smiling with pleasure over the feel of their freshly strung racquets with these strings. * *The Golden Set variety packs provided us with a wonderful introduction to the variety of string types available at a very attractive price deal. * *We all love the Golden Set overgrips too, which we refresh often because they are so nice and so economical. Life is too short to play with tired strings and worn grips... Thanks to Golden Set, we\'re enjoying the benefits of keeping our racquets freshly strung just the way we like them.

Date Added: By: mike dobrose Rating: 5/5 I have been stringing for years and recently tried the snakebite string. It plays great, helps generate lots of spin, the durability is excellent and the price is good. It takes some practice to tie good knots as the string can break if the knot is not pulled slowly and with caution, the string is very stiff, like stringing with steel wire. We use string savers in the string bed and have never broken the string, eventually cut it out due to tension loss. I would recommend this string to anybody wanting to use a co-poly string.

I've been experimenting with different types of strings and tensions..... searching for the "perfect string" until I came across the Snake-Bite. I love it. I did full bed at 63 lbs for myself the first time and tried a hybred the second time. I actually liked it better full bed. Great control and spin. Some Polys can feel too stiff but not these to me. Now I string them for many of my team mates and friends. The other stuff is sitting on my shelf collecting dust.

Date Added: By: Andy Alarid, Plano, TX Rating: 5/5 USTA Level: 4.5 Racquet: Head Youtek Prestige MP Review: I just made the switch from Luxilon Big Banger Rough (16G) to Snake-Bite (17G) and am so glad that I did! Not only was the string about 1/3 of the price, but it has lasted about twice as long. I was getting between 5-6 sets (about 8-10 days worth of playtime) out of the Luxilon and since I’ve strung my racquets with Snake-bite, I’ve played about 10 sets and haven’t had the strings pop yet. I string my racquets between 54-56lb and they still feel very lively and have held their tension fairly well. I can tell that the thinner gauge along with the snake-bite textured design has helped add even more spin, more than the Luxilon Rough. A couple of the guys that I play with have also told me that they could tell a difference in the dip of my shot back into the court. I definitely will be buying another reel of the Snake-bite when I get to it that point.

Every racket I've strung my customers comments are the same. They all absolutely love the product. It helps generate great top spin, has fantastic lasting ability and the strings never move around (due to top spin). If your a serious tennis player this string is exactly what you want. Last but not least the price is exceptionally good. There is nothing to my knowledge on the market where you can get this quality of string for anything even close to what Golden Set is selling Snake Bite.

I just purchased a 660 foot reel. I string my own racquets so my cost for stringing is now about $4.50 compared to $50 when done at the pro shop. I blow through strings every three weeks so I am very excited about this purchase. The one review i read stated that he thought he never would hit another shot long and I must say he is right. I am in love with this strig everything about it is incredible. The feel, bite, power. It all just works. I am also a stringer at a local country club so I deal with lots of different strings and I knew right away that this was going to be a good string. It plays a lot like rpm blast with just more bite. I feel like I\'m never going to hit a ball long again. If you decide to use this string it will be the best stringing decision of your life. I strung the 17 gauge at 57 in my head prestige mp. Give it a go! You won\'t regret it!

Date Added: By: Jared Waters Rating: 5/5 I\'m high school player in Texas and play about 15 hours per week. I strung snake bite 17 in my youtek prestige at 57 lbs. The spin and bite is unlike anything else! The string maintains tension well, has excellent power, and great feel. I would say this string is most like hurricane tour except it doesn\'t hurt your arm, lose tension, has more feel, and has even more spin! I\'ve tried hurricane tour, rpm, big banger, big banger rough, and several cheaper polys but snake bite is better than all of them! Snake bite is just as good if not better than any top of the line except it\'s half the price! The ONLY bad thing about snake bite is that it is difficult to string due to the shape and texture but it is absolutely worth it. TRY THIS STRING! you wont regret it...

I cannot tell much of a difference between the 2 strings which I use on crosses, with gut on the mains. I have the crosses at about 54 lbs which is slightly stiff but gives great spin and control, more than I have obtained from my strings in the past. The black color is awesome :) I have it strung in a Wilson K90 at 52lbs. It provides good spin potential. The power seemed low compared to Torque, which is typical for a poly string. This allowed me to generate my own power. I also tried Snake bite 16 in a Pro Staff 85 as the cross string with Torque 16 as the main. Strung at 56lbs. I really liked this setup, not sure how durable it will be so next time I will try to use the poly for mains and see if its as good.

Date Added: By: Butch Albrecht Rating: 4/5 Snake Bite 16g I was exposed to this string by someone at my local club. He said it compared to Babolat RPM, which I would have to say it does it structure. The most difficult thing to establish with this string was to tune into the correct string tension. With traditional string I was stringing my Wilson KBlade 98 around 57lbs (racquet is rated at 50-60lbs). Stringing the racquet with SnakeBite at this tension resulted in a very stiff, no feel, racquet. Digging a little I read some discussion on reducing the tension by 5-10% makes a big difference. I strung one racquet at 52 and another at 51 and wow what a difference. The feel and the spin generated was a significant improvement over the poly string I had before. I’m thinking about trying 50lbs to see what happens. The string has lasted now for 4 weeks with playing 3 or 4 times a week – which for me, someone prone to string breaking, is a big deal. I would recommend this string to others who are willing to take the time to tune the string tension to meet their needs and to go low on tension.

Date Added: By: Gene Ahlborn Rating: 5/5 SnakeBite 17 is now my string of choice. Have tested this string as a full job and as a hybrid, and I was very pleased with both- but prefer it as a hybrid. The string is a little stiff, and good knot tying is a little difficult, but not as hard as some other strings. You can see right off that the shape of the string will provide you some excellent bite, and I wasn't disappointed. With the first hit, I noticed increased spin on every shot. Power was above average, but not too much. Control was good, as was comfort, but everything was biting hard. My son couldn't believe the action I was getting with my serve and slices either. Ended up string his racket with a 16 G hybrid with optimum and he loves it as well. There are still some textured strings I haven't played with, but for the money (less that $6 USD a set) you won't find a better value overall. I have now strung 4 rackets with it and now just trying to choose the best string for the crosses (for Golden Set brands, Dura-Meld and Optimum worked nicely). I have only broke one set after about 12 hours of heavy playing, the others I cut out a little after 14 hours (had lost a little tension and they were starting to move too much for my preference, but they were still performing well). Great string- especially if you're on a budget and want some great spin. Ordering more very soon.

I along with a couple of friends have used it because of my recommendation, all including me have acquired arm problems, whether in the forearm or shoulder. Date Added: By: John Ramsey Rating: 5/5 I have used RPM Blast and Volkl Cyclone. This string is better than both at a discount price! I string 5-10 racquets weekly and everyone I have strung with the Snake Bite has been very positive. I had such a good reaction, I am b=now using it too!

Date Added: By: uma prasad Rating: 3/5 I have sample 67 strings so far, including snake bite. Being playing tennis and string rackets for about 20 years. Snake bite has the most spin and control of all.It is stiff but it has an amazing felling (crisp). I compare this string with blue gear and all signum pro strings. However, blue gear and signum pro (all strings) has little bit more power and about 15% less spin. Snake byte is a control string and very durable. Lots of spin.Little power. Played 30 hours and still good. I recommend the 1.25 version for more power. 1.30 gage is has less power. Stringing: 1.30 snake bite main at 54 lbs and 1.30/ 54 lbs dunlop explosive(soft co-poly). Recomendation: Use synthetic on cross. Use 1.25 gage. My ratings: 3/5. Why: -1 point: Little or power -1 point: stiffness (note mostly poly\'s are stf) +1 point: Spin +1 point: for control and durability. +1 point: price Service rating: 5/5, Reliable source for purchasing and immediate shipping. Friendly too.

Date Added: By: Carson Bell Rating: 5/5 I have found that the Snake-Bite 17 provides a nice blend of spin and power. This has allowed me to hit a ball that is heavy without losing much speed. It also seems to be just as durable as the other Golden Set Poly 17 strings which I have been happy with in the past.
