I have been using Golden Set products for about four years and wish I had discovered them many years ago.The products are excellent and reasonably priced. I am 87 and live in Longboat Key, Florida where I play tennis at least 5 and usually six days a week.I still play singles when I can find someone who will. My USTA 3.5 team on which I played number 2 position won the Florida State championship in year 2000 and went to Palm Springs where we finished seventh nationally. I have tried different Golden Set strings but finally tried an experiment which has worked very well for me and also for my wife who was a highly ranked player in the womens 35s in the 1970s. We both have used the same racquet for 12 years, a Wilson NCode, N1 Force which is an oversized 125. I have syngut 17g , black in the mains which could also be syngut 17g natural and velvet 17g natural color in the crosses, both strung at 62 pounds. It may sound weird but it works for me and my wife and that is all that count I also find the overgrips to be excellent Bill Allen

I've been 100% pleased with my recent order and all orders in the past. My latest purchase has been a reel of velvet(17G) and several packs of snakebite(17G). With snakebite(53lbs) on the mains and velvet(57lbs) on the crosses, the playability still gives me a lot of bite and now with added comfort. From a 1-10 rating, 10 being best: Playability: 9 Durability: 8 (8 hours of total match play, velvet started to fray quite a bit) Control: 9 Tension maintenance: 8 I play with a Yonex Vcore Duel G97, rated 4.5, and diving into open division tournaments. Thanks, Andy

I have been playing tennis for over 40 years most of that time at 4.5 and above, but finding the right string has aways seemed like a never ending battle. Back in the 60s and 70s with wood racquets I used gut exclusively but it was expensive. Now with graphite racquets the use of natural gut seems out of the question even for many pros. It is just too high maintenance. Over the past 10 years I've been trying just about any type of synthetic that I could find that would give me the good feel and control of gut but not the expense or worry about it fraying and eventually breaking prematurely. After trying about 30 different brands and styles, I tried the Golden Set sample packs. I liked most of them, they seemed to follow the supplier's ratings for playability and durability very closely, but I really liked the Maximal string. It has an incredibly soft feel very much like a light gage gut that is strung at just the right tension. I have had some chronic low level tendonitis in my elbow in the past few years which seems to be a non issue with this string. The durability is rated at 7 which is about right, I've averaged about 8 hours playing time which isn't bad considering the feel. Usually near the end of this string's life in the racquet, it loosens slightly (the mains start to move a lot) and then a fray starts to appear in one of the crosses. That usually means about an hour of decent hitting left. When this happens I just restring and start over. I do my own stringing, so with a reel of this string the cost is very reasonable. With the Maximal I feel that I have found the string that I've been looking for. Rick Slayton Ellicott City, Md.

I have used several of the Golden Set products and like them very much. The Velvet, Maximal, and Optimum strings play great and are very similar to Wilson, Gamma, and Prince strings that sell for a lot more money. The synthetic gut plays almost just like Prince Synthetic gut. I also really like the Hydrex Overgrips. They are very similar to the Yonex overgrips for a fraction of the cost. I have been recommending the Golden Set products to my tennis friends and have gotten several of them to try the strings and overgrips. They all like them as much as I do and are now using them on a regular basis. Sincerely, James Lucas

I am really happy with the Golden Set strings and also my over 1300 players in a year. Lots of my players using the great combination of Snake Bite, Power Cord or Hex-Poly on the main and Synthetic Gut Multifilament on cross. Your string give to them amazing performance. Between you and I, some players on 5.0 NRTP stop using Luxilon and RPM Blast and switch to Snake Bite. On of my machines is an Gamma 9900 ELS and doing a perfect work with the Golden Set strings. I very high recommend using the Golden Set materials, extremely high performance on the court My name is Oscar, from DEUCE4040, with 25 years experience. Thank you, Oscar

I'm just a home stringer and I ordered the white colored 16 awhile back. I put it on my PS 85 at around 56 and its quite comfy. It does start moving a bit after rounds of pounding but I figure that putting poly on mains will solve that problem. Very good price for very good value. Buy this, the price is same as two or three name brand sets. But this is better, and you get 16 sets.

I was excited to receive a set of the latest multi filament offering from Golden set called Satin. I had been looking for and trying lots of different hybrid multi/poly set ups that combine control, power and comfort. Satin did not disappoint. I was very impressed with how it felt with some stiffer polys that I enjoy playing with but due to elbow issues I had to cut back on full poly setups. So glad they sent me a sample to try. I put Satin on the mains and Snake Bite 17g on the crosses and it felt pretty good. But the ideal setup for me was Satin 16g on the mains and Hex Poly 18g on the cross at 52lbs. This played and felt amazing. Control, power and most important to me was comfort. It had a nice amount of pop surprisingly, ample spin and I felt I could put the ball anywhere I wanted. Only downside was durability. That setup didn’t last long but who cares when their price point is so low. Another solid product from Golden Set! Georgy K

This is one of the best multifilament strings I have ever used to string racquets for my customers and students. There is a lot of feel, control, and durability to it the benefits of which, I and my customers quickly notice. I am especially impressed with Gaby’s customer service. Last year I began stringing tennis racquets and was looking for a Canadian string supplier. I found Golden Set and liked their web site and product line. I ordered several Sample Packs, which allowed me to experiment with the various types. As a 3.5/4.0 calibre player, every string that I have used has produced results that I have been more than satisfied with. I especially like using the Hex Poly or Snake Bite in the mains and something softer in the crosses. The web site provides several recommendations on this. I find the strings used to date very durable, with vgood tension retention. I have also strung racquets for friends with Golden Set string and all have liked the results. I also use Gldn Set grips and wraps, which are very good. The shipping policy is excellent and for me, there is no need whatsoever to purchase the higher priced string and accessories from the big companies.

Snake Bite Smooth is perfect for big hitters who don't want to worry about overhitting when they're attacking the ball. In other words, I found this poly to be quite low powered and very well suited to the aggressive stroke speeds needed for heavy spin. Durability turned out to be absolutely top notch. With slightly lower tension, this string is very arm friendly, that’s why few high ranked juniors I string racquets for simply love it. I would compare this string to Wilson Ripspin or Prince Tour XC and/or few others. In past few months I used almost four reels of Snake Bite Smooth and I’ll order again. As much as I wanted to like it, it was too jarring for me (from the stiffness of the string). It played very nicely for the first two hours or so; however, I didn't enjoy it past 3 hour mark. Also, I developed tennis elbow at the same time. Personally much prefer the power cord over this, as it is much softer and arm friendly.

I can't say enough good things about the Hex string . . . lasts long, bites the ball great, doesn't move around in the racquet, and gives me lots of control. I've started stringing my racquets at 39 lbs. and even at that low tension this string stays in place. I use Hex for the mains and Snake-bite for the crosses at 2 lbs. more. Love the response that I get from it! Everyone I've strung racquets for request this combo of Hex and Snake-bite. Just the best string that I've ever used. Thanks!!!

I'm a solid 3.5 with increasing moments of 4.0 performance, as are most of my opponents and buddies. I enter USTA tourneys a few times a year and play in ladders; on a good week I get 8 or more sets in. We range from 30-45 years old, mostly athletic baseline "bangers" and we all tried name brand "poly's" when it became the rage, but quickly found out that its lack of give wasn't the best choice for "mature" joints. I was looking for a decent priced string that played like one of my favorites (Prince Duraflex), and I discovered your 16g Classic reel to be a great price, had some nice color options, and was easy to work with. Your classic 16g gets rave reviews from me and my friends I string for. The black color looks "bad ass" and it has a good feel and a nice combo of durability and playability. I find if you string it 2-5 lbs. heavier than you prefer it settles in nicely after about 2 sets and feels great. I also use it on the crosses on some of my friend's racquets who have no issues going "poly" on the mains. Chris Mallison April 25 2012

Its been about 6 months now that I have been stringing my own racquets & that of my friends with Snake Bite & Synthetic gut. The control & durability of these strings are amazing. I play with the Wilson 105 S which is a good & powerful racquet but is also a string breaker being 16x15 pattern. I use both 16 gauge on the main Snake Bite & Syn Gut on the cross which offers a good combination for playability. There is a marked improvement on spin for both my ground strokes & serve. As for value “the price is right”. I have been spreading the good word about the quality & value of Golden Set Strings. Thanks, Vic

I’m a 4.0 male, playing 2-3 times a week mostly doubles. I put the Satin 16 on my Prince O3 Spectrum, in place of the Velvet 16 that I usually use (because it’s the softest string I found, easy on my arm and allows me to hit with enough power but also have a very nice touch game). The Satin 16 has a similar soft feel, but at the same time feeling heavier, more robust somehow. There does appear to be more power, and I have to put more effort into generating spin, on ground strokes as well as serves, but that was just an adjustment, I think I’m back to the same level of spin now after 2-3 weeks. My touch game was also an adjustment – I love little drop shots – but I think I’ve got those back as well. So, I’m still deciding whether or not to switch over to the Satin from the Velvet. I need to do a little back and forth comparison playing (I have two of the same racquet, one with each string) before making the decision, so far I’ve only been using the Satin. The jury is still out, but I definitely like the Satin quite a lot.

I'm very pleased with Golden Set Classic 16 thus far. I have been using it as the cross strings in combination with snake bite 17 for the mains with great results. I have been putting the Classic on for the crosses a few pounds tighter than the mains so they set the Snake Bite up in a rough string bed for terrific 'bite'. I had initially expected them to get groovy pretty quick but they have surprised me with their durability and they give me a real nice, soft, smooth cross for the snake bite to slide back and forth on. So far so good - everyone loves this combination and I'm going to keep on using it as my main combination.

I have coached junior and senior high school tennis for approx. 20 years and also string their racquets. I have learned a lot about string and rackets over time. The quality of Golden Set string is second to none. I cannot tell the difference between Golden Sets and the high cost racket brand strings. I can usually change a player's string to Golden Set string without any problem. I use a lot of synthetic gut for the players who are not string breakers and string with a two color look, black mains white crosses. For the string breakers, I was stringing the mains and crosses in poly or copoly but when we started to notice soreness in the elbows we switched to a hybrid with Snakebite 17 for the mains, and Golden Sets synthetic gut 16 for the crosses and this works great. Quality Score is an A+. Price is A+ and it's the main reason I keep buying all my string and grip from Golden Set. Finally, customer service is A+. When I place an order, it is on my front porch in a few days. I'm sold on your products, your price, and your service. Thanks Ted Childers Greenwood, Arkansas October 6, 2014

You have got to try this multifilament string! Velvet definitely lives up to the name. It softens up my very stiff Babolat APD which makes it the most comfortable string bed I’ve ever had on this frame. It feels better than all the other major brand names out there and I’ve tried them all. I was at wits end until I tried Velvet initially for the price point, it being lower than the other brands but don’t let the lower price fool you, I’ll put it up against all of the pricier multis out there any day in quality. Even though it’s buttery soft you can still rip from the baseline with some nice pop and the touch is insane, especially at net. I string my sticks up on the lower end for that nice feel and pocketing. Thanks Golden Set for another fantastic string! Georgy - Santa Monica

This is simply the best string I have tried for the price. This string provides me with high levels of spin and control. With this string I felt like I could swing for the lines. This string really helped my kick serve. The strings were able to bite into the ball and generate massive spin which translated into a high bounce. This string is on par with the more expensive polys such as RPM Blast. I would highly recommend this string to anyone with fast strokes looking for more spin and control.

I decided to buy a reel of Snake Bite Smooth to go along with my new stringing machine following a nice experience with the original Snake Bite that a friend helped me put on last year. Overall, I'm very happy with the product and would definitely purchase it again. Here are some pros and cons from my own use: Pros: - Excellent durability! I've never broken my strings and usually have to cut them after a month of two of moderate frequency play - Can generate ample amount of spin - The strings never go out of place - Gives lots of pop Cons: - Quite a bit stiffer than most strings, sometimes feels like wires, so stringing it is a little more cumbersome than other strings - Doesn't break so you really need to pay attention to string quality and tension loss and decide for yourself when to replace them My next objective is to try Snake Bite Smooth with a Syn Gut for a hybrid setup. Thanks Golden Set!

I'm a high 4.5 to low 5.0 player and I've been using this string (Hex-Poly) for the last 3 years! I break strings fairly frequently and used to use Luxilon 4G, but it was way too expensive to pay >$250 a reel. I was using the 16 gauge Hex-Poly for a while and it lasted about 2x longer than the 4G, while providing really good power and spin. The string would start to lose a tension after about 4-5 weeks of playing, but it played and felt really well right before breaking; it'd just become harder to control. I've switched to the 17 gauge version and it lasts about 2-3 weeks of heavy playing. I like the thinner version a lot because it's still very durable, and I get even more power and control with the 17 gauge.

I have been experimenting with a string setup with Snakebite Smooth(17gauge, 53lbs, mains) and Satin(17gauge, 57lbs, crosses). Prior, I was using Snakebite(17g, 53lbs, mains) and Velvet(17g, 57lbs, crosses). At first, I was expecting the difference in bite, instead, I noticed how comfortable my arm felt first and then the spin. Spin was easily accessible when I needed more. Unlike the Snakebite, spin was always there. After 6 hours, overall, I still liked the access to power and spin, comfortableness, elasticity, and tension maintenance. Next up, I'll setup the Snakebite smooth and Velvet. Thanks, Andy

The Power Cord are a very soft string so I do not get pain in my elbow anymore, the Snake Bite are a little bit harder on my elbow, and the bite you get from the Snake Bite is really amazing, it is like the ball stays in your racquet at contact point for 3 or 4 seconds lol, you have time to aim and shoot back. Right now I went back to the Power Cord because they are more gentle on my elbow and so far I am happy this way. Highly recommended and cheaper than all other brands, I have tried a multitude of big brands for the past 2 to 3 years, non stop changing strings to see what will fit my game best, and the best one out there is the Luxilon Alu Power 125, but really expensive and do not last longer than 1 month on my racquet playing 3 to 4 times a week, I am a 4.5 player and I play really hard. The Power Cord do not have as much spin as the Snake Bite but it is actually really good for a smooth poly string. I string them at home and can restring not too often, Power Cord stays a long time, 2 months, in my Yonex Ezone 98 at 48lbs. I love it. Buy it, any of them... Olivier.

Here is a review for the Hex Poly. Hope you can use it. I think you have a neat little business using the net and you should be proud of yourselves. I have been using the Hex Poly strings for years now. I hit a lot of tennis balls and the strings last a long time since I only change them when they have become noticeably notched. I am a senior and find that these strings are gentle to my arm and hand and they give me no discomfort at all. I tried out the Snake-Bite when it came out and, in contrast to the Hex Poly, the Snake-Bite was too much for my arm and was quickly cut out. So I am quite happy with the Hex Poly and expect to use it for the indefinite future.

I'm a high school coach and I use this string through the year for players who are new to tennis to our more experienced varsity players. They like the feel and I like the durability the string has. Shipping is always fast and the customer service is top notch.

Been stringing my rackets with Snake-Bite I'm guessing 4 years now as a hybrid. Using several different types of softer synthetic gut in the mains, fell in love with Head FXP power 16g but hated how long the strings lasted.About 4 to 6 hrs as an average. When ordering more Snake-Bite the Rep said try the Velvet and did and I was Impressed . Strung One racket w/ FXP & one w/ Velvet to tell the difference ,The Velvet is a little firmer at first but after 1 hrs It had a nice feel. In 6 sets The FXP broke and after 8 sets the Velvet is showing some wear but still doing very well. I don't think that Golden gives it Enough Credit on its durability . Couldn't be Happier .Danny

I've been using Golden Set strings for over a year now and find them comparable to any high quality string on the market. My favorite string is the Maximal 17 gauge. The touch and control is outstanding with power when needed (depending on how I string it). The only downside is that the string usually only lasts me about 3 weeks before I break it. Sometimes I use the velvet 17 gauge when I need more durability. It has a very similar feel with just a bit more power. Fortunately due to the very reasonable costs of the Golden Set Strings and for the fact I string my own racquets, I can afford to restring frequently and always be on the top of my game. Keep up the good work Golden String!

I got the sample pack not knowing what to expect. The delivery was exceptionally quick, just few days from Calgary to Ontario. The quality of all of the strings that I tried out is excellent but my favourite to date is the Torque 15L which lasted a few weeks of hitting which for me is a long time. It is a nice rough string and I was able to get great spin from it and so I was happy. I still have a few strings to try out but I have one which really works for me.

I was referred by one of my tennis partners to try the Snake-bite string and I was surprised how durable it is and of course the extra spin potential from the string cross section pattern. I also like the golden set overgrip because of its particularly tackiness. Finally, you can’t beat the price of the Golden Set products which is very competitive. I am sold on their products.

I have used this product twice for customers to trial. The first time I used it as a main with 16g syn-gut on the crosses. The player commented that it generated a softer feel with the same spin as when I used snake bites in the mains. My second customer uses a full bed of another brands black spin string--I put snake bite smooth in the crosses of one of his three racquets and marked it. After playing with all three I asked if he could tell which racquet I strung differently and he commented that the spin was the same but that one of his racquets felt spongier than what he normally uses. He picked out the one with smooth. I am not surprised because of the swing speed this player uses and the stiffness of his normal string. I will use this product again, especially for customers wanting better durability with touch.

I've been using GS strings for a few years now... Started with Snakebite a few times & liked the bit it had... But once I tried Power Cord 16, I was hooked.. I have settled on 50 - 52 lbs tension range in full bed... Being a soft Poly it is a lot of fun to play with while being easy on the arm & providing excellent durability. I've strung this for a few friends who also love it. I've been using the 16 gauge for a couple of years now & have been very very happy! Next up Power Cord 17 gauge & I am certain it is only going to be better :-) Lastly, it would be great if GS can sell 1/2 reels of Power Cord strings 17 & 16 gauge. TY GoldenSet for the great prices & excellent service.

The best. All my friends now use it. They love the durability and the racquet never lose tension until it broke. At first some of my friends restring too tense, you need to drop about 5pl from the regular string.

We have been using Golden Set string for nearly two years now and have experienced nothing less than professional service. They always go out of their way to make sure we get what we need in a timely fashion. The playability and durability of the strings are outstanding (our team mainly uses the Hex Poly/Classic Syn hybrid,) and all at an unbeatable value. I received my goldenset order a few weeks ago and I am extremely happy with your products. I have been a goldenset customer for several years now. I normally blend snakebite and synthetic gut and decided to try your power cord. The power cord is a very playable string and generates a great deal of spin. Your prices are unbeatable and I am pleased to say that you have a customer for life. Thanks.
