I purchased the new Power Cord 17 for my 15-year-old son's racquet. He has been using Snake Bite 17 and synthetic gut hybrid. I depend on him for feedback, and he says the Power Cord definitely delivers more power. He's a big hitter already and has decided to stick with the Snake Bite for better control. So, if someone is looking for more power, this string fits the bill. We will use the Power Cord when we string for his friends and teammates.

I came across Golden Set a couple years ago when looking for alternatives to the high cost strings out there. I string for myself at home, and love the ability to try a variety of quality strings at low cost. I have mostly been using Snake Bite and Hex Poly. I love the spin I get with the Snake Bite, but find that the Hex Poly lasts a bit longer for me. Both play well and very similar to much higher cost strings. I like to pair them with the Golden Set Synthetic Gut. I am a 4.5 all court player. Rick Williams, Grants Pass, OR

I just purchased two packs of Power Cord 17 to experiment with. I strung my first racquet two weeks ago. Just so I could get a feel I strung it in the middle range for my racquet (Wilson pro open BLX). At first I thought it was a little tighter than I like. My plan was to only use it a couple of times and then remove it and try a hybrid with the Power cord and a synthetic gut. I have found it to play nice with a good balance between power and control. I am going to get a roll and try several different setups and hybrids to see how it performs. So far it is great by itself! I will report back with some alternate hybrids, tension, and stringing techniques. Looks like this might be a good string to have around.

I have to say as a college student that needs cheap strings that play at a high quality Snake bites are the way to go. I've hit with Luxilon Alu Power and even though it feels like there is more ball pocketing and control, the snake bites play with more spin. Stringing it feels amazing as well because unlike other string brands, there isn't much memory coil so the strings don't tangle with each other like other strings. They are also really good for people that break strings because as a hard hitter, I have never broken a set of these on my pure drives. I have to say I am impressed with the quality of these strings. I tried looking for cheap alternatives like topspin cyberflash and unique silver big hitter but I have to say I am glad I choose golden set. Also I really want to try hex poly after because I was wondering if those felt more like luxilon, but I guess I'll try it in my next batch of strings. -Alex

I have been buying and using golden set strings for a few years now and the new power cord strings are softer and more comfortable than the snake bite strings. Compared with the snake bite strings, the power cord gave close to the same amount of spin, but it had a lot more power. So I recommend the power cord string for people who want a comfortable feel and more power in their game.

In a day where polyester strings are increasing popular this is a gem. You can be hard pressed to find a hexagonal string for a better value. This string offers exceptional spin due to the shape and thinner gauge. Comfort and tension maintenance are also a nice bonus.

I've been 100% pleased with my recent order and all orders in the past. My latest purchase has been a reel of velvet(17G) and several packs of snakebite(17G). With snakebite(53lbs) on the mains and velvet(57lbs) on the crosses, the playability still gives me a lot of bite and now with added comfort. From a 1-10 rating, 10 being best: Playability: 9 Durability: 8 (8 hours of total match play, velvet started to fray quite a bit) Control: 9 Tension maintenance: 8 I play with a Yonex Vcore Duel G97, rated 4.5, and diving into open division tournaments. I'm a junior tennis player and my sister is a D-1 college tennis player and we both use Hex Poly. It is durable, easy on our arms and shoulders, and a great all-around string. It allows us to hit the ball with a lot of spin and power, yet we can still stay very consistent throughout each point. Bart Panarese

Hex Poly 17 tension 55lbs It is great string with great spin and power.Only issue that it is hard on arm and tennis elbow.I have another set string called Poly 17 gauge which I will try with lower tension around 48lbs and see what are the effects on my arm and tennis elbow. Do not take me wrong this string is very good perhaps lower tension will do the trick and I will not require to switch another string.

I ordered and received a bulk reel of Golden Set Hex Poly 18 about 6 months ago and have strung a number of rackets with it. The Hex Poly is a stiffer string than solid core string such as Gosen OG Sheep Micro making it slightly harder to string but not terribly difficult. The Hex Poly plays very well with noticeably more bite than smooth strings. The durability was very good. I tend to believe that after about 4-6 weeks in a racket, any string has lost a significant amount of tension and should be restrung. The life, before breaking, for the 18 gauge Hex Poly is about this time period so I am comfortable using and recommending it. One string client was exceptionally pleased as the Hex Poly does not move around like other strings so he doesn't have to realign or straighten the strings between points. Although the string notches slightly over its' lifetime, it does not fray. I'm normally stringing the rackets in the 58 to 63 lb tension range. I am pleased on all aspects of the Hex Poly string and am going to try the Snake Bite string as well to see the advantages or disadvantages of increased bite. Although polyester strings such as Hex Poly are reported to have a negative impact on the elbow and shoulders of players because of its' stiffness, I have yet to notice any difference in my use nor have any client report a difference compared to softer nylon strings.

String is durable and delivers great spin. The price is excellent. I have used this string for 2 years and have saved a lot of money and playability has not suffered. I am a ranked junior preparing for a college career. I would think that future customers would want to know that the quality of Snake bite is easily the same or better than other highly promoted strings that sell for much more. Durability is the most important quality of polyester strings and the durability of Snake bite is excellent when compared to other famous and comparable strings. Also, it is a very pretty string. 4 stars Thanks, Yancy Waldow

The Golden Set Hex Poly 17 string is a fantastic string that bites the ball exceptionally well. Soft and easy on the arm but not mushy, power and spin came easily off of the stringbed. The overall experience was comparable to hitting with top polyester strings like Cyberflash and Alu. Ease-of-stringing was regular for a polyester. A must-try from the Golden Set collection of strings.

I have been stringing racquets for 30 years and used many different brands of string . I have found Golden Set to be the best string that I have ever put in a racquet and more importantly for me the best feeling string that I have ever played with . I particularly like the Power Cord and have used it in various combinations with Snake - Bite and Hex Poly . Wish Golden set made a 18 in the Power Cord but the 17 does a great job in the mains mixed with 18 Hex Poly or 17 Snake-Bite . I can string my racquets 5 to 8 lbs. above normal tension and still maintain feel , control , and power .

The following is a review of snake bite 17, hex poly 17 and power cord 17. I am a home stringer along with my dad and both of us have been using golden set products for a few years now. The Snake Bite 17 has amazing bite and durability for a 17 gauge, comparible to black code or RPM blast. The hex poly is similar to some other hexagonal shapes strings like solinco tour bite. Finally, I was super impressed by the power cord, so soft and crisp and has a nice feel and pop. All in all, golden set has surpassed my expectations for how well priced it is, and continues to be a preference from customers using name brand string all over town. Will be trying hybrid setups with some of the syn guts soon. Gianfranco Savone, Ottawa, Canada.

I was always skeptical of the claim about the spin increase with shaped strings. I thought it had to do with the swing and how the ball was contacted. Hex Poly easily proves that I was wrong. I have two racquets, one strung with a highly regarded poly (in regular shape) from another bland and one with Hex. During my side by side comparison hitting, the Hex Poly brings out more spins effortlessly and my kicks serve also has more action and kicks higher. I really enjoy hitting with this string. Please be advised that the Hex Poly is a bit stiff so string it at a lower tension than the normal setup.

I have been using both Snake Bites and Hex Polys consistently for years now. Both make great hybrid setups as well as stand alone full bed setups. I just tried a couple sets of the Power Cord and now it too has made it into the rotation. I was going through the Snake Bites and Hex Polys pretty quickly probably because I was playing with the 17g on my 16x19 Babolat, so I decided to try the 16g Power Cord and never looked back. I was surprised at how soft they were, so my touch shots felt amazing especially coming from a 16g string, but make no mistake the pop was definitely still there when you needed it. I strung it at mid tension with my first set just to see how well the tension held up and 9 hours later after some heavy hitting the drop wasn't bad at all. I then strung up the second set at my normal tensional 50lbs and couldn't be happier with the performance, durability and of course price point. -Georgy Kao

â?¢ Hex Poly: Gauge/Length/Color - Hex Poly 18 Set (40ft/12.2m) â?¢ Snake-Bite: Gauge/Length/Color - Snake-Bite 17 Set (40ft/12.2m) Black I prefer the hex poly to the snake-bite because of the thinner gauge. both strings lasted for about 5 hits and felt good the entire time. the durability is good. previously, i've used 17 gauge kevlar. it lasts a bit longer, but it's feel and playability decreases considerably so you're not able to hit as well. it becomes more a question of do i want to restring for performance, or keep the strings for longevity. the hex poly and snake-bite both last long enough and feel good. i'm switching to the hex poly and ordering a reel. the bottom line, they're both nice strings.

I have ordered 4 reels of Snake-Bite in the past year and will continue to order this string. Snake-Bite with Syn-Gut hybrid is the way to go for maximum play-ability and feel. The string holds it's tension very well and gives me a tremendous amount of spin. I string for my group of tennis players and they keep requesting the same string setup after they've tried Snake-Bite. Best value you can get on the market with these strings. Thanks Golden Set!

Review of Hex Poly 16L I have been using this string for about a year now after using Babolat Pro Hurricane, RPM Blast, and Luxlion Big Banger Rough. Honestly, I feel this string is superior to any of those. The string has better feel than Hurricane of Luxilon, and a more traditional response than RPM Blast, and i think it has more "bite" than any of them. I break strings often, and hex Poly is at least as durable as these other strings, and seems to hold it's tension and playability longer. Highyl recommended. there is not reason to pay 5x more buying these name brands when Golden Set offers Hex Poly.

My daughters have been using the Hex Poly\'s for over a year now. We were looking to replace their former strings (Luxilon ALU) as it was getting quite expensive. I looked online and came across this site and saw how reasonably priced the strings were...gave Jeff a call and he said the Hex Poly strings were similar to the Luxilons...so we gave it a try. The girls LOVED the strings. We have been using the Hex Poly\'s on the mains and the Optimum strings on the crosses. They love the feel of the combination. The strings hold its tension well and last a very long time. My older daughter who played college tennis (using regular synthetic gut) would break strings after 3-5 days...this combination lasts her on average...3 weeks or longer. We have not ordered strings for over a year because they last so long. The feel is great, the combination is great, the service is great! I would HIGHLY recommend these strings to anyone...so would my girls!!

I play with the Wilson 105 S which is a good & powerful racquet but is also a string breaker being 16x15 pattern. I use both 16 gauge on the main Snake Bite & Syn Gut on the cross which offers a good combination for playability. There is a marked improvement on spin for both my ground strokes & serve. "As a professional stringer and open player in Winnipeg Manitoba(Canada), I'm proud to promote and use the Golden Set brand and couldn't ask for a better company to deal with. Golden Set strings, grips, head tape, etc. has met every scenario imaginable. Crossing over strings brands has never been an issue. I have play tested every Golden Set string in full sets and hybrids at different tensions. I was looking for "feel" with tension maintenance, so I decided on Velvet 16g mains with Snakebite 17g crosses and haven't looked back. Of course, one can't forget about the Adhesa grips during indoor season, and Hydrex grips during the outdoor season. My son is a 'heavy topspin' college tennis player. Over this past summer we decided to experiment with some different string types. He was using Babolat RPM Blast exclusively until we discovered Golden Set 'Snake-Bite' strings. With the RPM Blast, I would actually use sandpaper to remove the finish on the newly strung racquets. I knew it would shorten the life of the string but it would also grip the ball immediately. With Snake-Bite string, the texture of the string itself grips the ball from start to finish. For an extreme topspin player such as my son, it was the perfect match. He along with Golden Set Snake Bite strings just won The 2014 MAC Conference 'First Singles' Championship. I have coached junior and senior high school tennis for approx. 20 years and also string their racquets. I have learned a lot about string and rackets over time. The quality of Golden Set string is second to none. I cannot tell the difference between Golden Sets and the high cost racket brand strings. I can usually change a player's string to Golden Set string without any problem. I use a lot of synthetic gut for the players who are not string breakers and string with a two color look, black mains white crosses. For the string breakers, I was stringing the mains and crosses in poly or copoly but when we started to notice soreness in the elbows we switched to a hybrid with Snakebite 17 for the mains, and Golden Sets synthetic gut 16 for the crosses and this works great. Quality Score is an A+. Price is A+ and it's the main reason I keep buying all my string and grip from Golden Set. Finally, customer service is A+. I play at the 4.5 level out of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indio Wells, California.I tell everyone I hit with Golden Set tennis string and that it is the best string I've ever hit with, but it's also the best value you can find. I hit with the snakebite, 16 gauge, today. It was awesome! No fear of the ball sailing on me. Strung at 53# on an aero pro drive, I was killing it! Anyway, I can go on forever. Thanks, again, for making such a great product. I couldn't be happier with Golden Set strings. I had been using the traditional 16 gauge poly string, but recently switched to the snakebite. The strings are incredibly lively and last forever...almos-t too long! Thank you for making such incredible quality strings for players on a budget. I was given a set of Hex Poly 17's from a friend and enjoyed them so much that I ended up buying 10 sets of the Hex Poly 18's. Great string and down to one last set so time to reorder. I've used Babolat RPM along with some others and this poly from Golden Set compares and competes like the best. Great product and price!

I recently purchased a set of Snake-bite 17g after hearing positive feedback from numerous sources on the internet. I am based in New Zealand so obviously have to be patient when products have to travel across the world to arrive at my doorstep.I placed my order September 10th and it arrived September 17th. I am very impressed with the fast service and service like this makes all the difference! - I play at a national level back home and also coach for the NZTA (New Zealand Tennis Academy). I had training this morning and all I can say is WOW....This truly is one of the best strings I have ever tried. The spin, ball pocketing and comfort were all exceptional! So all in all, I am very impressed with the extremely fast shipping and an awesome quality product for the price.I look forward to doing more business in the future. After sampling several strings, the Hex Poly is the one for me. Great for ground strokes and volleys with good string-life. Replicates the ALU Big Banger. Even tried as a hybrid with Velvet crosses and it feels even better!

My name is Joshua Horn and I am a USPTA Proffesional. I use Golden Set Hex Poly String and feel that it is better than most of the Polys out there and less than half the price. I have tried over 30 different Polys over the last three years and Hex Poly has feel and bite on the ball like no other.

I was looking for cheap string that gives more spin because rpm blast is to expensive. so we tried kirschbaum and it didn't last long. so we tried snake-bite and It not only gave more spin, but it last longer than both other strings. =)
