One of the better multifilament strings out there on the market. I use this string on the mains and Snake Bite on the crosses. It gave me the best ball pocketing and enough power with this hybrid. If you want a low-price/good mutilfilament string, try Velvet.

We have used Hex Poly many times and enjoy the combination of power and top spin that we get from this string. We usually use it as a hybrid mixed with Maximal 17 for an excellent combination of feel, power, and top spin for a great price! Maximal string seems to be as good or better than Live Wire strings at a fraction of the cost.

I purchased 3 of the sample packs and have used the maximal, optimum, velvet, and synthetic gut so far in my and my wives racquets. I have been very pleased with the way the strings play and also the durability of the strings. I normally use Gamma Livewire professional or Technifibre NRG along with synthetic gut in the crosses as a hybrid in my racquets and I find the Golden Set strings play just as well and last as long or longer at a fraction of the price. I also purchased a bucket of the adhesa grip overgrips and find them to be as good or better than the wilson pro and the yonex super grap overgrips. I am very pleased with your products and plan on continuing to purchase them in the future.

My review is for the Golden Set Power Cord 17 Black. This string is very playable for a poly, it is soft on the arm and gives a very nice pop when hitting. The string also produces a good amount of spin even though its not a textured string. You will not be dissapointed, you will like this poly string if you want a feel thats in the middle of soft and firm. Thanks David

I came across Golden Set a couple years ago when looking for alternatives to the high cost strings out there. I string for myself at home, and love the ability to try a variety of quality strings at low cost. I have mostly been using Snake Bite and Hex Poly. I love the spin I get with the Snake Bite, but find that the Hex Poly lasts a bit longer for me. Both play well and very similar to much higher cost strings. I like to pair them with the Golden Set Synthetic Gut. I am a 4.5 all court player. Rick Williams, Grants Pass, OR

I have been experimenting with a string setup with Snakebite Smooth(17gauge, 53lbs, mains) and Satin(17gauge, 57lbs, crosses). Prior, I was using Snakebite(17g, 53lbs, mains) and Velvet(17g, 57lbs, crosses). At first, I was expecting the difference in bite, instead, I noticed how comfortable my arm felt first and then the spin. Spin was easily accessible when I needed more. Unlike the Snakebite, spin was always there. After 6 hours, overall, I still liked the access to power and spin, comfortableness, elasticity, and tension maintenance. Next up, I'll setup the Snakebite smooth and Velvet. Thanks, Andy

So for the last seven years I have been using Golden Set products. I have my own stringing machine which I originally bought just so I could tie my own tennis strings but has turned into doing work for others as well. It’s been nice to be able to order a selection of strings as well as grips and over grips for a great price and they work equal to the “big name” brands. I have found both the Secure Grip and the Elan Grip to work well. Over grips have been a great addition for me as they work great and I use them as a small bonus I send with the rackets for some of my consistent customers. For many years I used the Maximal 17 and loved the feel that the string gave me. But being a heavy topspin baseline player was looking for a little more from my string and had tried several different setups when I finally got around to trying there Power Cord 17(full bed). This is a great string, pockets the ball well, easy on the arm and a little extra spin on the ball is always good. Durability is better then some of the other strings I have used. I also like that Golden Set has a Canadian outlet. Orders are accurate and shipping is prompt. Thank you and I look forward to continue doing business with you. Jason

I have been stringing racquets for 30 years and used many different brands of string . I have found Golden Set to be the best string that I have ever put in a racquet and more importantly for me the best feeling string that I have ever played with . I particularly like the Power Cord and have used it in various combinations with Snake - Bite and Hex Poly . Wish Golden set made a 18 in the Power Cord but the 17 does a great job in the mains mixed with 18 Hex Poly or 17 Snake-Bite . I can string my racquets 5 to 8 lbs. above normal tension and still maintain feel , control , and power .

I've been using Velvet for over a year, and it has become my go-to multi. I've used Live Wire, NXT, Addiction, NRG2, and other quality multis, and Velvet by far exceeds these as a whole in all areas of value, feel, durability, and tension maintenance. Oddly, it doesn't noticeably complement all strings either as a main or a cross in a hybrid setup, but does enhance feel with good spin when in a hybrid as a Main with RPM Blast crosses (string RPM 3 lbs. lower). Overall, it is best on its own in a full-bed setup. If you're a stringer, stringing with this string is very easy. It doesn't kink or bruise as easily as Gamma Pro or Live Wire. For the money, it's the best value for a multi out there.

I've been using Golden Set Tennis products for almost five years exclusively for myself and my tennis buddies. I use Power Cord for power it generates, softer feeling and spin for myself. Recently, I started stringing Snake Bite for the players with a flatter swing with a minimal topspin. I noticed the players with flat swing usually dump a lot of balls into the net or hit long because of lack of margin for error. So far, I restrung for about a dozen players with a little bit of low to high swing with the Snake Bite. Guess what? All of above players hitting the ball with enough clearance without hitting long because of extra topspin the Snake Bite generates. I strongly recommend the players with flatter swing pattern, try Snake Bite. Thanks, Ken Thank you very much Golden Set!

I have been stringing my racquet with snake bite in the mains and using Velvet in the crosses. I feel that this combination gives me good spin, as I hit with a lot of top spin but I like the feel of the velvet in the crosses for touch. Velvet is rated poorly for durability and this is a true, especially with the snake bite, but since I string my own racquets, I don't care.

The following is a review of snake bite 17, hex poly 17 and power cord 17. I am a home stringer along with my dad and both of us have been using golden set products for a few years now. The Snake Bite 17 has amazing bite and durability for a 17 gauge, comparible to black code or RPM blast. The hex poly is similar to some other hexagonal shapes strings like solinco tour bite. Finally, I was super impressed by the power cord, so soft and crisp and has a nice feel and pop. All in all, golden set has surpassed my expectations for how well priced it is, and continues to be a preference from customers using name brand string all over town. Will be trying hybrid setups with some of the syn guts soon. Gianfranco Savone, Ottawa, Canada.

I have been using both Snake Bites and Hex Polys consistently for years now. Both make great hybrid setups as well as stand alone full bed setups. I just tried a couple sets of the Power Cord and now it too has made it into the rotation. I was going through the Snake Bites and Hex Polys pretty quickly probably because I was playing with the 17g on my 16x19 Babolat, so I decided to try the 16g Power Cord and never looked back. I was surprised at how soft they were, so my touch shots felt amazing especially coming from a 16g string, but make no mistake the pop was definitely still there when you needed it. I strung it at mid tension with my first set just to see how well the tension held up and 9 hours later after some heavy hitting the drop wasn't bad at all. I then strung up the second set at my normal tensional 50lbs and couldn't be happier with the performance, durability and of course price point. -Georgy Kao

March 20, 2012 I have been using Snakebite for a few years now, and my customer base loves this string. I string nearly every racquet from two clubs here in SW Florida and 95% of all string jobs include either Snakebite or a Snakebite/Velvet Hybrid. The Velvet string is nearly identical to NXT. Additionally, I use the Golden Set Secure grips and the Elan grips as replacement grips. My members love the fact that the price is the lowest for such good quality. Most of my members had not replaced their grips in 20 years. In fact, the first month I used over 30 grips. I found that the Secure Grip was a little thicker than the Elan Grip, and for those women whose grip was too large, I replaced their grip using an Elan Grip to reduce the grip size. The product quality and price has made me a permanent customer of Golden Set Tennis. Thank you again. John John A. Ramsey II Kelly Greens Director of Tennis USPTA Professional

I'm about a 5.0 level player, and had been using another brand of synthetic gut before I tried this string. However,I have seen far greater durability with Golden Set Optimum, and it plays very soft and feels nice. I use 16 gauge to keep it lasting long, and have had none of the "random factory error" string breaks that people normally talk about with regard to less expensive string. In fact, the value of this string is what keeps me using it; I get a nice feel on contact and still get much more string life for my money than other brands. Using it as a hybrid with Golden Set Poly works wonderfully. Delivery was quick, service was very professional. I have never had a problem. Highly recommended.

String the Power Cord at around 50 lbs (+/-) tension, and for the Crosses use a nice but also inexpensive Synthetic Gut or Multifilament at around 2 lbs higher tension.

I recommend string it 54 pounds or below of you have a racquet of at max 100 sq in. If bigger I recommend stringing at least 57.
