Arriving on the tennis string scene in the 1970’s as an inexpensive alternative to natural gut, synthetic gut type string rapidly gained popularity amongst recreational tennis players and continues to be a popular selling string type amongst players at all levels of play today. Shopping for synthetic gut or any other tennis string can be an overwhelming experience; there are a number of suppliers offering a large variety and selection of products, types, colors, etc. at varying prices. At Golden Set, we are very customer centered and strive to provide excellent customer service and support to you so you can have a great shopping experience. Golden Set synthetic gut strings offer customers the on-going remarkable quality and affordability that is at the core of all our tennis string. Synthetic gut, generally constructed with a nylon mono-filament (solid) core and nylon multi-filament wrap, are known for their all around performance and affordability. They deliver a nice balance of playability and comfort suitable for all playing levels. Customers looking to buy synthetic gut type strings from Golden Set have the choice between Classic and Synthetic Gut. Whereas both generate similar ball rotation and durability, Synthetic Gut carries a slightly softer feel. Both perform well on their own or as a cross string in a hybrid
pattern where they are frequently combined with a polyester string. Many players prefer a hybrid string pattern for achieving both good feel from the synthetic gut and increased spin / durability from the polyester. Incidentally, 10 years ago, synthetic gut was the first choice of most players but has since surrendered to the ‘polyester revolution’. However, it remains a popular string type for players who want playability and comfort at a reasonable price. If Golden Set synthetic gut strings its way into your racquet, we know you will be satisfied with its excellent value and versatility.

? Frequently Asked Questions
-
Q. What is the difference between a tennis string REEL versus a SET?
A. Reels typically contain hundreds of feet of string (enough to restring several rackets). Whereas sets usually contain about 38 to 40 feet of string (enough to restring a single racquet).
Generally, a 660 ft reel will string approximately 18 racquets. On a per unit length basis, it costs less to package, transport and handle reels versus sets. Golden Set passes these savings on to you: for a given string type, the per unit length cost is less for reels than sets. -
