Polyester Tennis String more info
- I've been stringing rackets now for about 9 years and have primarily used golden set strings. The high school boys tennis team really like the snake bite strings. Probably because they look good and do bite the ball well. As a stringer I feel that the twisted nature of the hex poly maintains its tension well. Lately I have been using power cord because it's a softer control string. I really like the feel of these, but may switch to a hybrid with satin to get a little more pop and make it more arm friendly. It has been great to use and string with golden set, because it helps me to keep my prices down without suffering quality.
- As a 3.5-4.0 tennis player playing for Tennis on Campus, I believe these are the best budget strings you can buy. There are a lot of alternatives such as pros pros and other cheaper strings on tennis warehouse, but none compare when it comes to quality like golden set. I always loved the original snake bites, but I do not like the feel of textured polys. Luckily, they released these beauties and I have not used anything else ever since. These will most likely be my choice of string for my whole tennis career. If you have arm problems, I would suggest hybriding it or trying their power cord instead.

- We have 5 tennis players in our family ranging from my wife and myself at Seniors (Pennant) level to our 18 year old son playing UTR (Level 12.6) and ITF World Junior tournaments. My son has a contract providing a very well-known polyester. However, we all choose to hybrid this string with Hex Poly in the mains for its' durability, value for money and ability to offer confidence swinging freely at the ball. We find it offers more durability than the highly-touted poly, which we use in the crosses (even for a UTR 12.6 playing at the elite level). The overall feel is remarkably comfortable on the arm, which is particularly reassuring for my wife and myself as 50+yr old regular players. We will definitely continue to purchase Hex Poly reels (as we have done for a number of years) for its' incredible value for money and comfort. Matt - Australia
- I absolutely recommend these strings. The high quality, elevated performance, and attractive price point makes the Snake-Bites hard to beat compared to other brands of poly strings. As a stringer, I found these to be a joy to string because of its manageability (the coil memory completely vanishes right out of the package). Performance-wis-e, I found higher levels of control and power, which gave me more confidence to take full cuts at the ball. Golden Set Snake-Bite strings check all of the boxes of what one looks for in a performance poly.
- As a professional stringer for many years, majority of my supplies, including strings, grips and overgrips, are from Golden Set. Quality of their products and prices attached to them are absolutely exceptional. I was able to replace very expensive Luxilon, Black Code, RPM Blast and few other polys with Hex Poly, Power Cord and Snake Bite smooth. I do a lot of hybrids and one of my favorite is Hex Poly in mains with Snake Bite Smooth in crosses⦠superb feel, spin, power, comfort and yet arm friendly. I would also like to thank Golden Set for incredible customer service and very prompt order delivery. Ludwik Stec Brampton, Ontario, Canada
- I have been stringing and leading my customers to Golden Set products for 6 years. Snake Bite and Hex Poly are my 2 main go to's using Syn Gut for crosses for many hybrids. I recently had a player come to me with arm issues who could not stay with his current green string set up because of the pain in his arm that he attributed to the stiffness of the string. I suggested a full bed of Power Cord 17g due to the increased elasticity of the string and I lowered his tension 3 pounds. The player has reduced pain while not giving up playability and after daily play for 3 weeks with no breakage--I guess durability is not an issue either. Stringersforum has Power Cord 17g at an off the chart---6.67 rating albeit with a small sample size. Great string that I have started using as crosses with Snakes and Hex Polys and the players love it. Todd Van Duyn -Avon-- Next Day Stringers
- Excellent string for all types of players! Am now stringing at 36/39 and it plays awesome! Strings never move until it's time to restring. Last at least 3 months with playing 4 to 6 times a week! Love it !!! Thanks !!!
- Snake bite is the best string I have used! Most reasonably priced strings and provides great durability and amazing feel. I have used Snake bite for the last 5 years and love it!
- Pleasantly surprised. Snake-Bite Smooth has similar spin as the hex. It feels more comfortable, too. As expected, the same great quality and durability. Big plus is easier stringing - easy to handle and less tough on my hand, skin & nails. I am very happy and satisfied to have included a reel of this new string in my purchase.
- Very easy on the elbow. Good pocketing. Nothing to complain about. First time I can play with full bed of poly. Lots of my friends like it. I especially string it for women players who prefer poly on their racquets. I prefer the amber color though as it feels softer than the dark grey color. But both are still good.
- I am on my second reel of Hex Poly 18g and am very happy with it. The feel, spin, response, and comfort is right where I want it. As it's a thinner gauge, it is great for my arm, especially when in a hybrid set up with a synth gut. The tension maintenance is great and the price is absolutely unmatched.
- The combination of the snake bite and classic strings is amazing. It is the perfect blend of power, control, and comfort. The best part of Golden Set strings is the price!
- I have been ordering strings and accessories from GoldenSet for quite some time. I always have been impressed by 1: their prices, 2. the quality of their products and 3. their great customer service. I play quite often 2-3 times per week but I also travel a lot with my racquets and play whenever and wherever I go to. This requires me bringing racquets with me in airplanes and to places with different altitudes, temperatures and conditions. Thatâs why I keep coming back because I have to change my strings and grips, etc. quite often. Great bang for the buck. Recently, I tried out Snakebite smooth. Impressed with its control and spin. So far so good. Seems even more durable than the hex. Will order again. Thank you,
- Excellent string Use it all the time. Very happy with this string
- Whenever it's time to replenish my stock of string, I always look to Golden Set for the best quality and pricing. I've been a customer since 2013 and the bulk of my inventory is Golden Set product. From poly/co-poly, multi-filament, synthetic gut, to replacement grips, I've come to rely on Golden Set products for the majority of my racquet servicing needs. Thanks again, Golden Set! - Great string. I string racquets. More and more people request it. String at low tension. Usually 5 # below the manufactures recommended minimum.
- Snake bite smooth is a durable spin friendly poly. Bang for the buck along with golden set service is unbeatable. Was using snake bite in mains with power cord in crosses now full bed of smooth
- As a college athlete I can always rely on Golden Set strings to provide me with long lasting, high power and plenty of spin to allow me to compete my best. They are less expensive than the competitors, but at a comparable quality. -Andrew T.

- I have been using Golden Set Snake Bite for a few years now, and I can't see changing! The spin, tension maintenance, string life, everything. I recommend it all the time, and when I string a racquet for friends, it's always Snake Bite. 10 out of 10 for me! Mark
- Great durability as expected, with exceptional spin and power. Been using it this year to string peoples racquets that want a reliable poly string. Everyone loves it, no complaints.
- Golden Set Team, thank you so much for such good and fast service. I been order from Golden Set different kind of strings and the Combos between Snake Bite, Power Cord and Hex-Poly combined with Synthetic Gut and Classic for Hybrid are excellent. I been stringing for 25 years and I work with coaches and players for National level and they love those combination of Hybrid from. Thank you Golden Set for such good quality of strings and prices value; Bye bye Luxilon, bye bye RPM and bye bye to many others strings that sponsor big players and consumers pay for it, it is not the case of Golden Set! - Tried many multi-sided strings over the years. Snakebite had become my favorite and the go-to string for my restringing customers. Great string at a very reasonable price. John Delaney Florida
- The new round snakebite smooth appears to have the same feel as the hex one. Iâm sure the smooth will last much longer, I had trouble with the old one chewing through other strings in a hybrid setup. Thanks, Eliot
- I've tried MANY (co)Poly strings available on the market ~ there are A LOT ~ and can assure you that Golden Set Power Cord is right up there AT THE TOP with the VERY BEST or most expensive. If you want great, comfortable, durable, tennis strings, that stay fresh and last a long time, whether it's full poly bed, or hybrid, it's guaranteed that you'll love Power Cord!
- I am really happy with the Golden Set strings and also my over 1300 players in a year. Lots of my players using the great combination of Snake Bite, Power Cord or Hex-Poly on the main and Synthetic Gut Multifilament on cross. Your string give to them amazing performance. Between you and I, some players on 5.0 NRTP stop using Luxilon and RPM Blast and switch to Snake Bite. On of my machines is an Gamma 9900 ELS and doing a perfect work with the Golden Set strings. I very high recommend using the Golden Set materials, extremely high performance on the court My name is Oscar, from DEUCE4040, with 25 years experience. Thank you, Oscar
- Iâve been playing with snakebite for a couple of seasons. Itâs certainly my favorite string. I feel I get better spin with the hex version. Your moisture absorbent over-grip is as good as any Iâve tried. Thanks again Eliot
- Snake Bite Smooth is perfect for big hitters who don't want to worry about overhitting when they're attacking the ball. In other words, I found this poly to be quite low powered and very well suited to the aggressive stroke speeds needed for heavy spin. Durability turned out to be absolutely top notch. With slightly lower tension, this string is very arm friendly, thatâs why few high ranked juniors I string racquets for simply love it. I would compare this string to Wilson Ripspin or Prince Tour XC and/or few others. In past few months I used almost four reels of Snake Bite Smooth and Iâll order again. - As much as I wanted to like it, it was too jarring for me (from the stiffness of the string). It played very nicely for the first two hours or so; however, I didn't enjoy it past 3 hour mark. Also, I developed tennis elbow at the same time. Personally much prefer the power cord over this, as it is much softer and arm friendly.
- I can't say enough good things about the Hex string . . . lasts long, bites the ball great, doesn't move around in the racquet, and gives me lots of control. I've started stringing my racquets at 39 lbs. and even at that low tension this string stays in place. I use Hex for the mains and Snake-bite for the crosses at 2 lbs. more. Love the response that I get from it! Everyone I've strung racquets for request this combo of Hex and Snake-bite. Just the best string that I've ever used. Thanks!!!

- I like the feeling of this string. It is stiff initially. However, after I use different tension of vertical and horizontal stringing, it feels much better. I improved stability and spin of my ground strokes using this string. I will buy this string again.

- I am a 35-year veteran of tennis 5.5 player number 2 in California I tried poly hex the first time and fell in love with it strong at 50 pounds on my head spin racquets just bought I highly recommended then I'm going to buy more of it thank you
- This is simply the best string I have tried for the price. This string provides me with high levels of spin and control. With this string I felt like I could swing for the lines. This string really helped my kick serve. The strings were able to bite into the ball and generate massive spin which translated into a high bounce. This string is on par with the more expensive polys such as RPM Blast. I would highly recommend this string to anyone with fast strokes looking for more spin and control.
- I decided to buy a reel of Snake Bite Smooth to go along with my new stringing machine following a nice experience with the original Snake Bite that a friend helped me put on last year. Overall, I'm very happy with the product and would definitely purchase it again. Here are some pros and cons from my own use: Pros: - Excellent durability! I've never broken my strings and usually have to cut them after a month of two of moderate frequency play - Can generate ample amount of spin - The strings never go out of place - Gives lots of pop Cons: - Quite a bit stiffer than most strings, sometimes feels like wires, so stringing it is a little more cumbersome than other strings - Doesn't break so you really need to pay attention to string quality and tension loss and decide for yourself when to replace them My next objective is to try Snake Bite Smooth with a Syn Gut for a hybrid setup. Thanks Golden Set!
- I ordered a large quantity of Golden Set string. My players and I love the feel of the snake bite because its durable and still has that bite to create the needed spin on the ball. Also the Power Cord has a soft feel to it and not to hard on an arm. This is extremely effective for my players who play 19 matches in two weeks and this string also has a long lasting durability. Very impressed with Golden Set tennis strings
- I'm a high 4.5 to low 5.0 player and I've been using this string (Hex-Poly) for the last 3 years! I break strings fairly frequently and used to use Luxilon 4G, but it was way too expensive to pay >$250 a reel. I was using the 16 gauge Hex-Poly for a while and it lasted about 2x longer than the 4G, while providing really good power and spin. The string would start to lose a tension after about 4-5 weeks of playing, but it played and felt really well right before breaking; it'd just become harder to control. I've switched to the 17 gauge version and it lasts about 2-3 weeks of heavy playing. I like the thinner version a lot because it's still very durable, and I get even more power and control with the 17 gauge.
- I started using Snake Bite black 17g about a year ago, and recommend it to everyone. I find it has great spin, tension maintenance and durability. And softer than RPM Blast. 5 stars!
- We compared this string with Babolat RPM blast. There are lots of similarities between them. It helps for top spin and its durability is similar to regular poly strings. But, my son (a top 30 national USTA player) still prefers power cord 17.
- I have first used the Power Cord in yellow and I first loved them, then used the Snake Bite in black and I love GoldenSet even more. The Power Cord are a very soft string so I do not get pain in my elbow anymore, the Snake Bite are a little bit harder on my elbow, and the bite you get from the Snake Bite is really amazing, it is like the ball stays in your racquet at contact point for 3 or 4 seconds lol, you have time to aim and shoot back. Right now I went back to the Power Cord because they are more gentle on my elbow and so far I am happy this way. Highly recommended and cheaper than all other brands, I have tried a multitude of big brands for the past 2 to 3 years, non stop changing strings to see what will fit my game best, and the best one out there is the Luxilon Alu Power 125, but really expensive and do not last longer than 1 month on my racquet playing 3 to 4 times a week, I am a 4.5 player and I play really hard. The Power Cord do not have as much spin as the Snake Bite but it is actually really good for a smooth poly string. I string them at home and can restring not too often, Power Cord stays a long time, 2 months, in my Yonex Ezone 98 at 48lbs. I love it. Buy it, any of them... Olivier.
- Here is a review for the Hex Poly. Hope you can use it. I think you have a neat little business using the net and you should be proud of yourselves. I have been using the Hex Poly strings for years now. I hit a lot of tennis balls and the strings last a long time since I only change them when they have become noticeably notched. I am a senior and find that these strings are gentle to my arm and hand and they give me no discomfort at all. I tried out the Snake-Bite when it came out and, in contrast to the Hex Poly, the Snake-Bite was too much for my arm and was quickly cut out. So I am quite happy with the Hex Poly and expect to use it for the indefinite future.
- I was referred by one of my tennis partners to try the Snake-bite string and I was surprised how durable it is and of course the extra spin potential from the string cross section pattern. I also like the golden set overgrip because of its particularly tackiness. Finally, you canât beat the price of the Golden Set products which is very competitive. I am sold on their products.
- I have used this product twice for customers to trial. The first time I used it as a main with 16g syn-gut on the crosses. The player commented that it generated a softer feel with the same spin as when I used snake bites in the mains. My second customer uses a full bed of another brands black spin string--I put snake bite smooth in the crosses of one of his three racquets and marked it. After playing with all three I asked if he could tell which racquet I strung differently and he commented that the spin was the same but that one of his racquets felt spongier than what he normally uses. He picked out the one with smooth. I am not surprised because of the swing speed this player uses and the stiffness of his normal string. I will use this product again, especially for customers wanting better durability with touch.
- I've been using GS strings for a few years now... Started with Snakebite a few times & liked the bit it had... But once I tried Power Cord 16, I was hooked.. I have settled on 50 - 52 lbs tension range in full bed... Being a soft Poly it is a lot of fun to play with while being easy on the arm & providing excellent durability. I've strung this for a few friends who also love it. I've been using the 16 gauge for a couple of years now & have been very very happy! Next up Power Cord 17 gauge & I am certain it is only going to be better :-) Lastly, it would be great if GS can sell 1/2 reels of Power Cord strings 17 & 16 gauge. TY GoldenSet for the great prices & excellent service.
- The best. All my friends now use it. They love the durability and the racquet never lose tension until it broke. At first some of my friends restring too tense, you need to drop about 5pl from the regular string.
- Love the snakebite 17 guage. String. Use it exclusively now.
- I have tried the demo you sent me and I'm very please with the feeling of this string , very good tension maintaining and good spin potential Have to lower tension a bit cause it's a stiffer string but when adjust the tension this is a very good string. Snake - bite smooth is my new string of choose
- My review is for the Golden Set Power Cord 17 Black. This string is very playable for a poly, it is soft on the arm and gives a very nice pop when hitting. The string also produces a good amount of spin even though its not a textured string. You will not be dissapointed, you will like this poly string if you want a feel thats in the middle of soft and firm. Thanks David
- I came across Golden Set a couple years ago when looking for alternatives to the high cost strings out there. I string for myself at home, and love the ability to try a variety of quality strings at low cost. I have mostly been using Snake Bite and Hex Poly. I love the spin I get with the Snake Bite, but find that the Hex Poly lasts a bit longer for me. Both play well and very similar to much higher cost strings. I like to pair them with the Golden Set Synthetic Gut. I am a 4.5 all court player. Rick Williams, Grants Pass, OR
- Golden Set tennis is a great company to deal with...great product specially the snake bite. Will continue to purchase the products. Bill
- I have been experimenting with a string setup with Snakebite Smooth(17gauge, 53lbs, mains) and Satin(17gauge, 57lbs, crosses). Prior, I was using Snakebite(17g, 53lbs, mains) and Velvet(17g, 57lbs, crosses). At first, I was expecting the difference in bite, instead, I noticed how comfortable my arm felt first and then the spin. Spin was easily accessible when I needed more. Unlike the Snakebite, spin was always there. After 6 hours, overall, I still liked the access to power and spin, comfortableness, elasticity, and tension maintenance. Next up, I'll setup the Snakebite smooth and Velvet. Thanks, Andy
- So for the last seven years I have been using Golden Set products. I have my own stringing machine which I originally bought just so I could tie my own tennis strings but has turned into doing work for others as well. Itâs been nice to be able to order a selection of strings as well as grips and over grips for a great price and they work equal to the âbig nameâ brands. I have found both the Secure Grip and the Elan Grip to work well. Over grips have been a great addition for me as they work great and I use them as a small bonus I send with the rackets for some of my consistent customers. For many years I used the Maximal 17 and loved the feel that the string gave me. But being a heavy topspin baseline player was looking for a little more from my string and had tried several different setups when I finally got around to trying there Power Cord 17(full bed). This is a great string, pockets the ball well, easy on the arm and a little extra spin on the ball is always good. Durability is better then some of the other strings I have used. I also like that Golden Set has a Canadian outlet. Orders are accurate and shipping is prompt. Thank you and I look forward to continue doing business with you. Jason
- I have been stringing racquets for 30 years and used many different brands of string . I have found Golden Set to be the best string that I have ever put in a racquet and more importantly for me the best feeling string that I have ever played with . I particularly like the Power Cord and have used it in various combinations with Snake - Bite and Hex Poly . Wish Golden set made a 18 in the Power Cord but the 17 does a great job in the mains mixed with 18 Hex Poly or 17 Snake-Bite . I can string my racquets 5 to 8 lbs. above normal tension and still maintain feel , control , and power .
- I've been using Golden Set Tennis products for almost five years exclusively for myself and my tennis buddies. I use Power Cord for power it generates, softer feeling and spin for myself. Recently, I started stringing Snake Bite for the players with a flatter swing with a minimal topspin. I noticed the players with flat swing usually dump a lot of balls into the net or hit long because of lack of margin for error. So far, I restrung for about a dozen players with a little bit of low to high swing with the Snake Bite. Guess what? All of above players hitting the ball with enough clearance without hitting long because of extra topspin the Snake Bite generates. I strongly recommend the players with flatter swing pattern, try Snake Bite. Thanks, Ken Thank you very much Golden Set!
- The golden set power cord is a very interesting string. It got the durability of any polyester string but what makes it my favorite to play with is its flexibility. Softer feeling than regular polyster ones.Thank you! Francis
- I'm a high level player and these strings are incredible. Great feel and the durability is amazing. I highly recommend these strings because the quality is also fantastic as well. Matt
- I've been using the Snakebite for the past 3 years; I've replaced the pricey Babolat RPM Blast with the Snakebite. It's my go-to string for its price, durability, and playability. Very happy with my purchase!
