Quality Tennis Racket String
Polyester / Co-Polyester
Polyester, the best-selling type of tennis string, provides excellent spin properties along with great durability. Its feel is relatively 'dead' (stiff) which is actually a desirable quality for today's high performance players. Particularly at the professional level, today's top level players are bigger, swing faster and use more powerful racquets than ever. Polyester's 'dead' feel together with its unsurpassed access to spin, permits more aggressive shot selection without compromising consistency. Players with moderate swing speeds can still enjoy the benefits of polyester string, but it is imperative that they use a lower tension - usually 10% lower than what they have been using with non-polyesters. Co-polyesters are polyester tennis strings that have been altered at the chemical level to optimize attributes like tension retention and increased elasticity. 'Soft' co-polyesters, like Golden Set Power Cord, have undergone chemical optimization to increase their elasticity (increased power and comfort). All Golden Set polyester tennis strings are in fact co-polyesters with excellent tension retention characteristics. Geometric polyesters, like Snake-Bite and Hex Poly, have non-circular cross-sections which give them a spin enhancing texture.

Synthetic Gut / Solid Core
Synthetic gut type tennis strings, generally defined as having a solid nylon core with a nylon multi-filament wrap (jacket), are widely used because they deliver affordability together with respectable playability and durability. With a synthetic gut string in your racquet, you'll experience a relatively soft feel along with good power and decent spin generation. Synthetic gut strings are also great in hybrid combinations, usually in the crosses, with polyester in the mains. Golden Set offers two types of synthetic gut: Synthetic Gut and Classic. In terms of stiffness, Synthetic Gut has a softer feel than Classic.

Multi-Filament / Micro-Filament
Like synthetic gut type strings, multi-filament tennis strings are primarily made of nylon. However, their cores consist of multi-filaments unlike the cores of synthetic guts which are solid (mono-filament). The presence of multi-filaments throughout their construction results in a very elastic / comfortable feel. Micro-filament tennis strings, like Golden Set Maximal, are a type of multi-filament constructed from thousands of very small diameter filaments. The multitude and size of these tiny filaments is quite similar to the 'construction' of natural gut and results in a feel that is also similar. Multi-filament tennis strings constructed of less numerous, larger diameter filaments, like Golden Set Velvet, tend to have greater durability than micro-filaments along with a slightly firmer feel.

Aramid / Kevlar ®Aramid tennis strings provide the ultimate in durability. String-breakers that appreciate its severe stiffness are best suited to this string type. Aramid / Kevlar® fibres, the same material used in bullet-proof vests, are responsible for the unmatched stiffness and durability of this string type. Due to their excessive stiffness, it is recommended that Aramid Tennis string be used in the mains only of a hybrid string setup together with a much softer (less stiff) string like synthetic gut in the crosses.
