Maximum Spin Polyester Strings
Q. What is the difference between a tennis string REEL versus a SET?
A. Reels typically contain hundreds of feet of string (enough to restring several rackets). Whereas sets usually contain about 38 to 40 feet of string (enough to restring a single racquet).
Generally, a 660 ft reel will string approximately 18 racquets. On a per unit length basis, it costs less to package, transport and handle reels versus sets. Golden Set passes these savings on to you: for a given string type, the per unit length cost is less for reels than sets.
In recent years, polyester has dominated the tennis string market. From a pure performance perspective, polyester is superior to other string types because of its exceptional spin generating properties. On a practical level, polyester strings are also favoured because of their outstanding durability. To be fair though, not all polyester strings are created equal. Many polyester strings are known to lose their tension rather quickly. Tension retention refers to the ability of a string to maintain a stable tension over a period of time and is an important consideration for most players. Unless you are a professional player, it is probably not feasible to use several different racquets, each freshly strung, over the course of a match. That is why Golden Set's polyester tennis strings are engineered to reliably retain their tension for extended time periods. By maximizing your play time from each string job, Golden Set saves you even more money!
