I string rackets for many players. I have turned every mail player to use Snake Bite strings, I use 16G for the mains and 17G for the cross, every body likes it. For most of my female players I use Power Cord or a combination or Snake Bite and Power Cord. I do not carry any other strings and I have used all of them, my inventory is limited to just those two strings, every body loves them.

Got my reel of 18g hex poly couple of weeks ago. I previously used snake bite 17g for more than a year but wanted to try a thinner one and since 17g is the thinnest offering from snake bite. Overall, the string quality (i.e., tension retention, minimal or no string movement, durable, soft) seems at par with the snake bite after more than 4 hrs of heavy hitting. It holds the tension very well and it appears the six sides of the string still sharp as ever. On the other hand, the snake bite appears to loss the sharpness of its twisted sides of the string after 5 hrs of heavy hitting and becomes rounded.

Very soft string and durable for sure! String tension is normal with noticeable string movement after about 10 hours of play. Feel was good, and spin generation average. Power was definitely there even at higher tensions. Used in full bed, probably would fair well in a hybrid too. Would definitely use again. Good string for a good price!

I would like to review the Snake Bite 17 gauge Black. Have been using the snake-bite 17 gauge for many years. Love the feel of this poly string and the bite on the ball it creates. I blend these with a multi filament strings. The 17 gauge is very durable. I love these strings. I will be giving the snake bite smooth version a try very soon. Thank you for this wonderful product! Golden set keeps producing excellent string. Power Chord holds tension and helps to generate spin better than competitors strings. This is a must have!!! A superior string at a superior price!

Very spin friendly string and very durable. so far i have played 9 hard matches on these and my strings are barely notched. Very good string. I also strongly recomend snake bite.

I want to commend you on a great product. I was offered a sample pack which to my surprise was a wonderful value. In using the sample pack I discovered the 18 gauge Snakebite and 18 gauge Velvet. This is a great combination for my racket and style of play. I am preparing for another season of USTA team tennis (3.5 Senior & Regular)and was looking for a string combination that would be easy on my arm and still give me power that I need to be a consistent winner. Make my vote the Snakebite and Velvet combination. A great value and worth twice the price. Thank You for a great product and wonderful value. I am looking to buy a reel of both and only decision is about the color.

I am happy with Golden string and find it comparable to many better strings. The velvet string is simular to technifibre NRG or Gamma tnt which are 2 of my favorite strings. I have many friends who like the durability and spin of snakebite 17g. Susan

This past few years, my bother and I enjoyed playing with the Poly, Hex Poly and Snake Bite from Golden Set. These poly strings are good just as the named brands for about one-third of the cost. We really like them in a hybrid setup with an Optinum or Syn Gut. But this summer, the Power Cord has became my go-to string. With a softer feel, I like to use them as a full bed. Truly, it gives me a perfect blend of power and control. Highly recommended!

I have recently been introduced to Hex Poly by Golden Set and fell in love with it right away. I have used a similiar string from another Manufacturer but wanted something at a better value. I feel like I could drop a ball in from "30,000" feet with these strings. They really grip the ball and I can get extreme top spin. I use the 16 gauge with the Classic. The customer service at Golden Set is exceptional.

I've been using Golden Set strings for over a year now and find them comparable to any high quality string on the market. My favorite string is the Maximal 17 gauge. The touch and control is outstanding with power when needed (depending on how I string it). The only downside is that the string usually only lasts me about 3 weeks before I break it. Sometimes I use the velvet 17 gauge when I need more durability. It has a very similar feel with just a bit more power. Fortunately due to the very reasonable costs of the Golden Set Strings and for the fact I string my own racquets, I can afford to restring frequently and always be on the top of my game. Keep up the good work Golden String!

I have used snakebite 16 and 17 in many racquets over the past 5 years. Players love it. One combination that seems to be working well for high school players is snakebite in the mains and synthetic gut in the crosses. The combination is soft enough to still feel comfortable and also adds more spin and control.

I finally had a chance to try the power cord, and I was very impressed. For years I was loyal to the hex poly, but I am now going to change. The string was responsive, soft, offered more control without sacrificing spin or pop. Whether you take it with a full bed, or a hybrid, you will love it. At the price that golden set offers, you cannot go wrong. I recommend power cord for all levels and styles. Thank you golden set for giving us a great product

I recently strung my racquet with the golden set hex poly (white)18G (@50/48 lbs -- Dunlop 200 Tour). I have hit with this string for about 5h and found it to be a very decent mid-powered poly -- so far I have had nice control and spin on ground strokes and serves and the string has maintained its consistency. The string pockets the ball quite nicely and is quite comfortable as well.

Velvet-These strings are probably my favorite strings I have used on my racquetball racquet. I string my own racquets so I purchased a sample set from Golden Set. These strings played awesome and the durability was better for me then Golden Set's "racquetball string" (Anabolic). In fact I cannot say how long these strings would have lasted because my frame broke before the strings. I am going to order a reel of this string and will string all my racquets with it. I have found the one!

I love playing tennis and have used over a dozen of tennis strings. Once I started playing with Snake Bite strings from Golden Set 2 two years ago I fall in love with it. It's high quality tennis string with good price. The string generate lots of top spin which I was looking for. I highly recommend them. Try it and you'll love it too. I give 9.5 out of 10.

The best non-multi filament string I have ever tried. I used it as a main in a hybrid with Gosen Micro in the crosses; easy spin and great tension maintenance. Going to try it next as a full set.

I have been using the Golden set strings for over a year with Excellent results. i have tried Golden Set Hex to compare it to BabolatRPM Blast or Luxilon Alu Spin and found it to be better on feel and spin for a 1/4 of the cost. Its a great string and in my opinion much better feel than the Babolat and Luxilon strings. Highly recommend this strings.

A couple of things about this string as I've played through 10-15 sets of it now . . . First, this is an excellent playing and feeling string that has far greater durability than you would ever expect from a string that plays this well. Second, at the price, about half or less of the price of competitive name brand strings, you can not miss with this string. I just started stringing again after many year of paying for the service and I love stringing and playing with this string . . . (I'm a 4.5-5.0 level player) Outstanding!!!

Snakebite Red 17g- by the coil- incredible stuff. True-to-form, really grabs the fuzz & generates a lot of movement & "hop". Great feel, right after stringing, too. Using it as a mainstring, with relatively soft Prince synthetic crosses, at 55#, in a Prince EXO3 Warrior DB Team 100 (14x18). Thanks for a great product!

I have had the power cord strings for two weeks. I like the feel and spin control I get from them. I have a tension meter and the tension drop the first day which is normal, however since then it has gone down one pound in two weeks. This is the first strings I have tried from Golden Set, I which I would have found them sooner. Thanks, John

Being a stringer and a passionate player of the sport I have the advantage of personally trying out the strings before I choose to endorse them to my clients! I have Hex Poly in the mains and Syn Gut in the crosses on one racket, and Snake Bite/Syn Gut on my other....both are great combos. The Hex poly however is 18 gauge and have found it to be a powerful combo with the Syn gut 17....delivers great spin with extra power!! The Snake Bite 17/Syn Gut 16 combo delivers similar spin and bite but with more control!! (could not compare the same gauge as they no longer make the SB in 18) I have tried both combos with Velvet substituting the Syn Gut resulting in more feel of the ball coupled with elbow preservation!....but not as durable!

I have been using name brand tennis strings as long as I can remember and for the past 6 years I have been stringing my own racquets. I have found that the Golden Set Velvet is as strong, yet easy on the arm and playable as any string on the market. The quality is terrific and the price extremely competitive. This is the string I use personally and recommend to all my customers.

I ordered a large quantity of Golden Set string. My players and I love the feel of the snake bite because its durable and still has that bite to create the needed spin on the ball. Also the Power Cord has a soft feel to it and not to hard on an arm. This is extremely effective for my players who play 19 matches in two weeks and this string also has a long lasting durability. My thirteen year old daughter who plays five days a week for, three hour a day,tried many other strings but snake bite sold her.She been playing with it for two years now and loves it.She said she feels in control of every shot, and when she does volley at the net it always lands where she wants it to go. She wants to tried the new power cord so I'll order it and write a review in a few weeks.

All my big hitters love this string and so do I! I use it for the mains at 10% lower than spec and snake bite 17 on the crosses at spec. It locks the strings in and they never move! Super feel and great spin on the ball. I'm not a big hitter but I use allot of spin and this combination REALLY grabs the ball! I love it!!! Thanks!

This string has a great feel. It doesn't hurt your arm and it's very responsive. The issue is, it breaks withing 6-8 hours of hard playing. However, in my opinion, it's just like those other $40 string you see from companies but at an insanely low price. Personally, it's worth buying a reel cause it works. Lots of spin and plenty of comfort. I'm just hooked on it.

We have been buying snake-bite sets for the last few years and have been happy with the price and performance of your great polyester string. It plays as well or better than higher priced polyester strings from other manufacturers. The spin and durability compares very favorably to strings that cost more than twice the amount that snake-bite does. I have been very pleased with the string and the customer service by Golden set. I also recommend your string to all our friends and juniors.

Love this string. I'm about a 5.0 right now though have played open tournaments, and I find this to be a great balance between power and control. I'm very comfortable at net with this string, knowing the string-bed will be consistent for tough volleys. Serve power and placement is unparalleled. Thanks for making a great string!

These are excellent poly strings that a lot of the high school players I string for swear by. They are durable and extremely spin friendly at a VERY reasonable price. Ordering my third reel shortly.

I'm a 4.0 "touch" player, and sampled a lot of strings to find the most comfortable string with good control - Velvet 16 was it. I play three times a week, and need to restring about every six weeks, but with such a reasonable price (and I string myself), it is more than worth it. I just got my second roll!

I have been using Snake Bite black for nearly a year now, and I wouldn't switch. Good spin, great life and tension maintenance.

According to my 16 year-old son, a 6.5 competitive player, the hybrid Power Cord 16g (main) and Synthetic Gut, 16 g. (cross) strung at 57lbs, performs better than the Donnay CoPoly and X-Micro, 16g. I'm informed that Golden Set Hydrid "feels softer; it allows him to pocket and control high-velocity balls when hitting and returning them during intensive training with his group from the USTA High Performance Junior Development Program at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, NTC, Flushing, NY, the official venue for the U.S. Open.

Wonderful strings at great price! I didn't use textured strings before, and I could definitely feel the difference. Lots of free spin! It helps me keep the ball inside the baseline. One downside is the balls get worn out a lot faster (soon become fuzzy). That's how much the strings are "pulling" the balls. Very durable as well. I have trouble finding comparably durable syn gut for crosses. Every time it was the crosses that break first. Strongly recommended.

I still play with a Wilson Jack Kramer wooden racquet at times and stringing it with Golden Set Velvet 16 really improved performance. It provides me with a soft feel, a seemingly larger sweetspot, and ball placement is such that it seems I just \"think\" of where I want the shot to go, and it gets there! I highly recommend Velvet.

Love the Snakebite! I tried both the red and the black. I prefer the red as it seems to play a little more crisp. Fantastic string at a great value! I would recommend to anyone looking to a crisp string that really grabs the ball!

I have been using Golden Set products for a few years now, and have tried almost all their string. I was loyal to hex poly, but after giving power cord a shot, I have now switched. Whether you use it as a hybrid, or a full bed, power cord will deliver. It has a much softer feel, without sacrificing power or spin. And with the price of a reel, you cannot go wrong. I have been using Hex Poly 17 for more than two years. They are excellent strings. I recommended it to some of my tennis friends, they liked it and also purchased more by themselves.

Like many tennis players, when I started I knew nothing about racquets, weights, strings, types, gauges, tensions. I mostly knew to hold the handle of the racquet. As my skill and sophistication improved, I tried all of the big name strings that I heard about on TV - gut, Technifibre, Luxilon, RPM Blast, Eventually I bought a sample pack of Golden Set strings. Now my permanent string is Golden Set SnakeBite. It gives me the feel, durability, and economical price that none of the others can touch. I am too old to turn pro...Too bad! I bought the Power Cord 16 Reel (660ft/200m) not long ago. Shipping to my apartment in Vancouver took 3 days and I didn't have to drive to the US to pick it up. These strings are the best I had so far in last 3 years for my Wilson BLX. They last longer and I feel in control when hitting the ball. When hitting it stays longer in contact with the racket and allows me to make last adjustments. I 've been taught to play tennis on red clay and these strings bring back memories of fast paced controlled tennis. I recommend these strings to advanced players.

I have to say that this is the only poly which I can use. I did try many poly brand, gauge, setup, full poly, hybrid. Nothing works and full poly hurt my elbow twice. But still I want more power and spin. So I keep trying untill I found this one. Now my set up: main 18 or 17 gauge syn. gut 58lb; cross hex 18 52 lb; Wilson blx pro staff 95. Yes! Main string broke very often, 3 h for me. I have stringing machine, so that's fine. The string feel live, powerful and control. I think 18 gauge help it to bite the ball better. I don't know if Hex shape helped since i never tried round shape 18 poly. I am happy about current setup so far. If you were, same as me, failed at other poly strings, I recommend you using HEX 18 gauge poly string, try hybrid first. Thanks for reading.

Just used up my 2 snake bite strings from the poly sampler i bought last month (please refer to my 09/12 review) and am now to the power cord. Stringing is a delight for the softer power cord. I strung my Dunlop 4D100 with power cord 17 (mains @ 52 lbs) and tourna big hitter blue rough 16 (crosses @ 50 lbs), and the tension at mains right after stringing was measured (using gamma tension tester) at 52 lbs . 12 hours later (without hitting), the tension dropped to 50 lbs but settled there pretty much even after close to 10 hrs of play. The power cord ($6.01) is comparable, if not better than Luxilon ALU Power ($16.95) in all aspect i.e. power, tension maintenance, spin, durabilty, playability but the PRICE. Btw, one of the characteristics i like about the power cord and snake bite is that the mains barely moves even strung at the lower end of the spectrum (50-52 lbs). The snake bite did move after more than 25 hrs of play but it was mainly due to the synthetic crosses i used (silent partner flattened). Surprisingly, the tension on the mains was measured still at 50 lbs before i cut the snake bite. This simply means that it retained the tension very well. Freddie Asis USTA NTRP 4.0 Stockton, CA

I just wanted to compliment goldenset on their excellent customer service and great product. I am a 4.0 USTA rec. player, and have used goldenset strings for about 3-4 yrs. I play 4-5 times a week, and have been amazed at how long the strings hold up and how well they maintain their tension. I like to use the hex-poly on the mains and optima on the crosses. This gives me a good balance of spin, power and longevity. I can then use the 17 gage strings at 55 lbs. I have tried other strings but can't beat the value or performance.

Extremely good value. The reel lasts me for quite some time and I am a 4.0 ranked player. I play three times at least during the summer and about twice during the winter. Snake-Bite has been my choice for a while. Lots of spin. Does need 1-2 hours to break in to see the maximum spin potential. They last rather a long time although I string at 49-50lbs. I use a Head Graphene XT Extreme Pro. Final word: recommended for players who want extra spin and pop. Thank you, Jean-Pierre Ung.

Power cord is my new favorite for stringing. The feel really is softer, and I prefer it to other polyesters I have tried because it is easier on my arm (I have a mild case of tennis elbow). I have used this in the mains with classic in the crosses, but I switched back to using power cord in both the mains and crosses, and I notice very little difference in racket performance. As with all golden set products I have tried, it is a better value than other comparable strings (if there are any, I haven't found another polyester that plays comparbly soft).

I've been using the Hex Poly as a main string for over a year now. Tons of spin, power, and control! It's also a softer string so stringing is easier, and no problems with tennis elbow. For the price, this string cannot be beat!

I used the power cord (gauge 17) all summer on clay court. I strung at 50 pounds and it feel just great. Goog durability without the hard feel of polyester.

I am a 5.0 player who has previously strung my Babolat Pure Drive with Top Spin Cyberflash 17G at 57 pounds. When they changed the formula, I started breaking strings often and searched for a replacement that was more durable but was soft on the arm and has similar feel. I have an extreme western grip, and don't need assistance with access to spin. I tried the big banger, it was too hard on my shoulder, the Kirschbaum Helix 17G was not durable, the PolyStar Energy was short on feel and difficult to control. THe snake bite and the dunlop black widow provided too much access to spin. My local pro recomended the Hex Poly 17G. Since I didn't know much about Golden Set, I was not optimistic. I tried the string and I am in love. It durable, provides good access to both spin and power, and has tremendous feel for touch shots. I have recently recomended this string to several people I play with whose rackets I string.

I'm an advanced player who breaks strings often. Several years ago I was looking for an economical soultion to my problem of having to replace strings frequently and came across GoldenSet, and decided to try them. I have been impressed with all of the Golden Set strings I have tried, and have used their Poly strings for the past two years. After experimenting with many Poly strings, I have found Golden Set's to be equivalent or better than other much more expensive brand name Polys. I recently tried Powercord, and I think this will be my new standard string. It really is softer than other polys I have used. It has excellent ball-pocketing; you can really feel the ball sink into the strings, and feel it being propelled off of them. This is what provides a player with "feel". They are more elastic, softer and better feeling than other mono-filament strings, and to me feel more like a high quality multi-filament, but with the spin and durability of a high quality poly. These are the perfect solution to those who like the usual characteristics of poly (high spin potential/durability) but don't like the stiffer feel usually associated with them. Great string!

I have been using 18 guage hex poly in my personal racquets for a year now and find the thinner guage to provide great playablity for a polyester string. At lower tensions the string plays remarkably nice and still offers amazing durablity.

I tried the power cord 17 mains with syngut 17 on crosses. I am very impressed with the extra power and feel of the power cord 17. I have a compact stroke and have been playing with snake-bite 17 but may switch to the power cord for the extra pop.

I string for the college team. Our players like Hex Poly for its balance between durability and spin generation. In most of the cases, they use combination of Hex Poly and Optimum and are very satisfied with it. Thank you!

Snake bite tennis strings. Excellent spin, fair power, tough on tennis elbow sufferers. You will need a low vibration racquet with good vibration absorbers such as the worm two pack.
