I've played with Luxilon Big Banger Alu Rough, Tecnifibre Black Code and the Babolat RPM Blast Black and Snake-Bite (16g) are easily as good as any of those options. I'm a stringer and not only do they really grab the ball but they maintain their tension and last a surprisingly long time. So if you're using Luxilon, Tecnifibre, Babolat, etc but are looking for a comparable string at a much more reasonable price then this is the string for you!

I got the 17 guage and the strings are just amazing. I string my racket at 47M and 44C and the feel is just amazing. Gives really good pop and spin. It's now one of favorite string. I also bought the G.S. hex poly and snake bite is much better, so definitely worth the extra $20 for the reel. Will definitely buy again.

I was using the hex poly and switch over to the snake bite. I mean the strings are really good at creating spin but it take away from the power. Very good strings but going back to the hex poly.

So far I have only used the Snake Bite 16 string, and it is as good as the Luxilon Alu Rough at least... I cannot tell much of a difference between the 2 strings which I use on crosses, with gut on the mains. I have the crosses at about 54 lbs which is slightly stiff but gives great spin and control, more than I have obtained from my strings in the past. I may go down a few pounds in my next stringing for a little more comfort, and this comment applies to the Luxilon as well. Excellent string, at a good price, far better than the Luxilon.

My Review for Snake Bite 17: Great Poly String! I liked the looks of it better than hex poly. The black color is awesome :) I have it strung in a Wilson K90 at 52lbs. It provides good spin potential. The power seemed low compared to Torque, which is typical for a poly string. This allowed me to generate my own power. I also tried Snake bite 16 in a Pro Staff 85 as the cross string with Torque 16 as the main. Strung at 56lbs. I really liked this setup, not sure how durable it will be so next time I will try to use the poly for mains and see if its as good.

I\'m a stringer as well enjoy playing tennis so much. I had used Technifibre Black Code 17 before I purchased Snake-bite. In game, the spin and drive love was fantastic. I\'m very satisfied with snake-bite 17 and I\'d highly recommend it to other players around me. Also I want to be able to use Snake-bite 18 gauge.

It is correct - This product is awesome for topspin and slice. The snake bite string realy grabs the string and I\'m hitting drop shots and chip returns of serve with great results. The string also as plenty of power. For adv children(13 and more) You can also use it. but with combination with soft string.

Both a busy stringer and player I've recommended Golden Set's Hex Poly and now their new Snake Bites to numerous customers I string for. This hybrid combination is on my racket and generates a healthy amount of spin. I've tested a myriad of strings over the years and what impresses me most about Golden Set is the high quality of their products for such an affordable price. Thanks Golden Set!

I used the 17g fullbed, 37 mains/39 crosses. It's not difficult to string at all. The string felt less stiff than 18g hex poly and plays softer. There's more spin and feel. A great string. I would say the 17g is almost as thin as hex poly's 18.

Snake Bite 16g I was exposed to this string by someone at my local club. He said it compared to Babolat RPM, which I would have to say it does it structure. The most difficult thing to establish with this string was to tune into the correct string tension. With traditional string I was stringing my Wilson KBlade 98 around 57lbs (racquet is rated at 50-60lbs). Stringing the racquet with SnakeBite at this tension resulted in a very stiff, no feel, racquet. Digging a little I read some discussion on reducing the tension by 5-10% makes a big difference. I strung one racquet at 52 and another at 51 and wow what a difference. The feel and the spin generated was a significant improvement over the poly string I had before. I'm thinking about trying 50lbs to see what happens. The string has lasted now for 4 weeks with playing 3 or 4 times a week - which for me, someone prone to string breaking, is a big deal. I would recommend this string to others who are willing to take the time to tune the string tension to meet their needs and to go low on tension.

I did try the Snake Bite strings at 58lbs and I've never hit the ball with such great spin & control, and more importantly, is very arm friendly since I have some shoulder issues. Durability is very good too. If your racquet is a tight string pattern (18x20), I would use the 17g for maximum performance on spin. Overall, great value for the money. thanks Tony, Oakville, Ontario

Best string and best value I have ever purchased! Thank you Golden Set tennis!! Jeff Kizer Nedwport Coast, Ca

SnakeBite 17 is now my string of choice. Have tested this string as a full job and as a hybrid, and I was very pleased with both- but prefer it as a hybrid. The string is a little stiff, and good knot tying is a little difficult, but not as hard as some other strings. You can see right off that the shape of the string will provide you some excellent bite, and I wasn't disappointed. With the first hit, I noticed increased spin on every shot. Power was above average, but not too much. Control was good, as was comfort, but everything was biting hard. My son couldn't believe the action I was getting with my serve and slices either. Ended up string his racket with a 16 G hybrid with optimum and he loves it as well. There are still some textured strings I haven't played with, but for the money (less that $6 USD a set) you won't find a better value overall. I have now strung 4 rackets with it and now just trying to choose the best string for the crosses (for Golden Set brands, Dura-Meld and Optimum worked nicely). I have only broke one set after about 12 hours of heavy playing, the others I cut out a little after 14 hours (had lost a little tension and they were starting to move too much for my preference, but they were still performing well). Great string- especially if you're on a budget and want some great spin. Ordering more very soon.

I found Snake-Bite to be an excellent value. Very comparable to many of the higher priced polys. Good playability for a polyester, and good grip with the texture. Also, very durable, so it will have a long life in the frame. Pretty stiff, so be ready for a little shock, but overall an excellent string.

a friend gave me a set of snakebite 17 and i really like it. when you are stringing it you can "ting, ting, ting" as you run the string over itself and the hexagonal shape makes noise. on the court it feels like you can grab the ball better when you need spin, but also boom it when you need to boom it.

Golden Set Snake Bite is simply put an awesome string. I strung my Prince Hybrid Hornet at 60 lbs. I've tried many of the high end polys and I definitely prefer the Snake Bite. It has excellent feel on all shots, lots and lots of spin and is a very nice looking string as well. The string bed remained straight and tension loss was minimum. I appreciate the resonable pricing of this string but would certainly pay more. Let's keep that secret. I can't wait to try the rest for Golden Set's quality strings.

Snake Bike plays like a top quality string comparable to Luxilon Big Banger but half the cost. I have been hybriding the string with Torque 16 gauge. I have played tennis for many years recently graduating from a division one school so I have quite a bit of experience and expertise with different types of string and I can honestly say Snake Bite and Torque provide the best playability of any string out there. I have recommended your string and web site to many of my friends and colleagues and they all feel the same way about your company.

I want to commend you on a great product. I was offered a sample pack which to my surprise was a wonderful value. In using the sample pack I discovered the 18 gauge Snakebite and 18 gauge Velvet. This is a great combination for my racket and style of play. I am preparing for another season of USTA team tennis (3.5 Senior & Regular)and was looking for a string combination that would be easy on my arm and still give me power that I need to be a consistent winner. Make my vote the Snakebite and Velvet combination. A great value and worth twice the price. Thank You for a great product and wonderful value. I am looking to buy a reel of both and only decision is about the color.

Golden Set is quite amazing! I 1st tried a sample pack of strings from an auction site, hoping to find some decent inexpensive strings. I was surprised to find all the strings were quality and have been using them since. My favorite combination of strings that I have found with any strings (not only Golden Set), is Snake-Bite (super spin and strength) in the mains at 55 lbs. and Optimum (super soft and comfortable) in the crosses at 59 lbs. (in a 102 frame).

Snake-Bite 17 is a good string and yet affordable compare to other name brands such as Babolat RPM Blast or Technifibre Black Code. It does bite the ball due to its twisted heptagonal as other brands don't have. It is easy to string, a bit stretchy compare to other polys. Strung it 10% less will give good result like the Luxilons or even better.

The Golden set strings perform very well, with good l string quality...they match the written description on the back of the packages very well. The service is always courteous and prompt! In particular I like the new Snake-Bite string, and am in the process of ordering more. I hit with a strong slice in my tennis swing, and boy does the snake-bite string amplify the spin!

Hi have purchased 10 different strings from you, but the ones I like the best are the new Snake Bite and Optimum. I string my racquet hybrid. I use Snake Bite in the mains and Optimum in the crosses. I like the bite and more spin the Snake Bite gives. By itself it has a hard feeling. By putting Optimum in the crosses, I get the same action on the ball but with comfort. The softness of the Optimum string compliments the Snake Bite. I also use the Hex Poly in the mains as well. The bite and feel for me are the same, but not as hard as Snake Bite. Love your product. In me you have a customer for life! Keep cominig out with the new string.

I purchased Snake Bite strings for our college team. They have loved the product & were impressed immediately with the response of the string, the overwhelming spin production, the playability the string delivered. Other players who have used more popular poly strings have even now switched over to the snake bite. We are the Cobras & the snake bite fits in perfectly to our new motto. We would recommend this to all players seeking more performance from their poly string.

being a 5.0 player I've tried many strings. This string was by far my favorite, it has the exact playable qualities as RPM by babolat...the only downside was the string causes extreme shock to the arm in dry climates. when i played in Dallas where the weather is moist i loved the string and i encountered no problems..Recently i have moved to NM in Hobbs and the climate is very dry. I along with a couple of friends have used it because of my recommendation, all including me have acquired arm problems, whether in the forearm or shoulder. I highly recommend this string but if you reside in a dry climate, it will be in your best interest to cross it with a soft string like velvet.

I've been using Snake Bite in my Head rackets for nearly three months. I was playing Babolat Pro Hurricane 1.25 , but found that string in AMAZON and I bought one set at first time. I loved this string. Why? Because ,It is extremely durable, and hasnt lost any tension .I've been playing tennis for over 10 years and have tried too many strings. It is perfect for spin player mode. If you are serving the ball kick or spin form; this string is for you. It is also suitable for blending. If you are looking for comfort, my advice is Golden Set Velvet. If you are looking for power, my advice is Golden Set Hard line. Prices are amazing. What can I say else. Thanks a lot. Viva GOLDEN SET.....

I had to and tried just snake biting the whole 6.1 tour 90 @ 2# difference. After the third session, she finally settled and man I love it! Snakebite 17 gives great access to spin and control on ground strokes without sacrificing power on serves. I am a 3.5-4.0 level league player and have tried several hybrid combinations of strings. The hybrids always seam to cut each other and break too fast. These strings don't break and they hold their tension well, so I get much more time between stringings and have no problem with touch shots.

I've been using Snake Bite in my babolat rackets for nearly a year now. Originally I played Pro Hurricane Tour, but found that string too unforgiving and strenuouos on my arm. Since changing to Snake Bite, the string has proven to be extremely durable, and hasnt lost any tension since originally being strung. I use it when I coach and play, and love it. A nice blend of spin and power that really suits my game. The comfortable feel I get from serving, combined with the flex generated when going for the big shots makes it ideal. I've played and coached the game for over 20 years, and have tried too many strings to even count. Changing to Snake Bite has proved to be the string I've been looking for. Perfect!

I use Head Prestige Mid frames with a dense string pattern for control, and when I string up with Snake Bite I also get more spin than I've ever experienced; this stuff should be outlawed! (well I hope not). Also a breeze to string, man I really love this stuff! Dave from South Tampa Florida.
